Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to join our team. As a Billing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely billing processes for our medical office. This is a full-time position with competitive compensation and benefits.
Duties:
- Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate codes using ICD-10, ICD-9, and other coding systems
- Verify patient insurance coverage and process claims for reimbursement
- Ensure compliance with billing regulations and guidelines
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or denials
- Collaborate with medical staff to obtain missing documentation or clarification on coding issues
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments
- Prepare financial reports related to billing activities
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of medical coding principles, including ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG coding
- Proficiency in using medical billing software systems
- Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
- Experience in medical collections is a plus
