Responsibilities And Expectations
- Assign tasks to qualified personnel within the department as directed by the supervisor.
- Train employees to perform operations within the department.
- Performs on-the-job training of subordinate workers in advanced electrical skills and maintenance practices.
- May occasionally be assigned to other duties for training purposes or to meet technological changes or emergencies.
- Report employee performance to the supervisor.
- Report all injuries, near misses, and accidents immediately to a supervisor.
- Reports directly to the Production Manager.
- Travel to customer sites for repair and preventative maintenance visits. Must possess good customer service skills and interact with customers on a day-to-day basis.
- Repair various kinds of electro-mechanical equipment.
- Analyze various manufacturers’ schematics diagrams.
- Measure for and note proper replacement parts. Correctively requisition needed items.
- Examines coil connections for broken or defective wiring.
- Troubleshoot and test electronic components to board level using various methods and testing equipment, including but not limited to megohmmeter, high voltage insulation testers, ac/dc volt-ohm-milliammeter, and clamp-on name-meters. Various kinds of hand-held powered and non-powered tools, etc.
- Test coils, armatures, stator, rotor, and field coils for continuity, shorts, grounds, and insulation resistance.
- Examine bearings, shafts, and other moving parts for excessive wear or defects.
- Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical or electromechanical assemblies including but not limited to bearings, brushes, motor leads, gears, seal impellers, mechanical switches, brakes, clutch rotors, tachs, fans, end shields, etc.
- Assemble and test motors for specified performance.
- Observe all safety procedures and policies and use proper protective equipment (especially eye, and ear protection and steel toe shoes/boots, gloves, etc.)
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Report all injuries, near misses, and accidents immediately to a supervisor.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Competencies
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A two-year technical degree is preferred but not required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer applications.
- Mechanical and/or Electrical experience/aptitude.
