Flight Engineer/Mission Director

Overview

The Flight Engineer/Mission Director performs duties in support of the operations of all aircraft assigned to an applicable base location. Mission Director will plan and/or fly sorties for customers to ensure that quality products and safe operations are provided as tasked.

Responsibilities

Conducts aircrew duties on a variety of aircraft to include, but not limited to: Boeing 747SP, DC-8, Gulfstream III, Beechcraft King Air, C-20A. Conducts flight operations in accordance with FAA, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), and other applicable directives, regulations, and instructions. Maintains performance standards in accordance with directives, training plans and policies to include: knowledge of safety precautions; knowledge of mission systems, limitations and regulations/procedures. Performs any and all on-site tasks necessary at operation locations for a safe, secure and professional operation. Develops training curriculum for changing configurations and equipment. Supports any administrative or flight operations scheduling / record keeping as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree and 4 years of relevant experience, or Associates degree and 8 years relevant experience, or 12 years relevant experience required.
• Have a minimum 500 hours in airborne observatory operations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and ability to create, maintain and update briefings and statistical reporting required.
• Ability to demonstrate Emergency Bold Face procedures from memory.
• Must possess a current US passport, valid through period of employment. Must meet the security requirements of the position and pass needed medical certifications.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

• Typical working conditions will be similar to office, moderate noise level.
• May be required to sit in a confined space for extended periods of time.
• May be required to sit at computer station and/or type on keyboard for extended periods of time.
• May require strength (lift up to 25 pounds).
• Required to transition (move, stoop, kneel), reach, hand dexterity, talk, hear and see.
• May be required to take verbal messages per phone and face-to-face contact.
• May be exposed to high noise levels; flight line working conditions.
• Will be required to work at night on flight line.
• Deployed operations, both CONUS and OCONUS may be required.
