Job Description
Initiates the design, development, execution and implementation of scientific research projects to fuel Intel's growth in the areas of computing, communication, technology and manufacturing and new business opportunity. Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products typically 7 years prior to landing on a product roadmap. Plans and executes laboratory research. Maintains substantial knowledge of stateoftheart principles and theories, and contributes to scientific literature and conferences. May participate in development of intellectual property. May coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts. Typically holds a PhD.
The successful candidate is expected to:
- Maintain substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories. Contribute to scientific literature via papers and presentations. Initiate the design, development, and implementation of security-related scientific research projects to fuel Intel's growth in the areas of data processing and network communications related to new and existing business opportunities.
- Use scientific methods to investigate the feasibility of novel concepts typically 5-7 years prior to landing on a product roadmap.
- Validate ideas through prototyping, including systems software (Operating Systems, Virtual Machine Monitors, compilers, runtime libraries), CPU simulations, FPGAs and working with CPU/GPU/XPU ISA/hardware/microcode extensions.
- Participate in development of intellectual property related to their research.
- Independent thinker and team player to move state of the art technologies forward.
- The candidate should possess strong analytic skills and ability to work in a dynamic and team-oriented environment. This is an entry level position and compensation will be given accordingly.
Qualifications
You must possess the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Relevant experience can be obtained through schoolwork, classes and project work, internships, military training, and/ or work experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
- The candidate must possess a PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field, with a focus on platform security, core architecture, accelerators, system software, or memory management.
- Research in at least one of the following areas: Platform security, memory safety, malware exploits / analysis, security-relevant systems software, core architecture, accelerators
- 2 years of experience in Computer architecture
- 1 year of experience with Git.
- 2 years of experience in C, C or Rust experience.
- 2 years of debugging experience with gdb/lldb/idb.
- 1 year of experience with IA-32 assembly language
- 2 years of experience with Linux-based operating systems and development environments, e.g. shell, ssh, and make.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience/knowledge in one or more of the following:
- Trustworthy computing, anti-malware, compartmentalization, microservices for cloud computing,
- 1 years of experience in Verilog / RTL experience for developing low level CPU pipeline enhancements
- 1 years of experience in modifying the Linux kernel
- 2 years of experience in security and/or cryptography
- 1 year of experience with microservices or Function-as-a-Service (FaaS) orchestration frameworks and runtimes
