CLS Laboratory Supervisor

Job description

Since 1969, Inter Science Institute has made many research procedures and tests routinely available for clinical testing and research application. Inter Science Institute is dedicated to providing specialized Endocrinology Laboratory services to the clinician, the researcher and the patient.

We are seeking a highly motivated CLS (Generalist or Chemistry) licensed professional, who is responsible for accuracy, reliability and timeliness of reporting patient results and supervising the technical team.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist at ISI, you will be pivotal in conducting comprehensive pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing of high complexity.
• Rigorous monitoring of test data, quality control, quality assurance, preventive maintenance, and proficiency testing aligned with our laboratory's operational protocols.
• Perform and supervise a diverse array of manual and semi-automated assays, prioritizing accuracy and efficiency
• Maintain professional growth and development by attending Continuing Education sessions. Actively participates in the Department’s Quality Assurance program and attends meetings as necessary.
• Play a key role in mentoring new team members, ensuring thorough orientation and fostering a collaborative work environment
• Communicates with employees regarding the day to day departmental operations.
• Leadership duties extend to evaluating and implementing new technical procedures, managing quality control data, and contributing to staff performance reviews.
• Manage and monitor the timely performance of calibration and preventive maintenance procedures
• Assists in the process of commendations, counseling, interview and selection of employees.
• Assist the Department in meeting accreditation requirements by licensing agencies.
• Reinforce the use of personal protective equipment and maintain a safe work environment, requiring safe work practices.
• Willingness to take on new tasks and additional responsibilities
• Displays flexibility to cover laboratory workload in emergencies
• Adheres to the highest level of patient care as defined by established standard protocols, and maintains confidentiality on all tests performed by the laboratory.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in laboratory technology or related science (B.S).

Must have a California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license (Generalist or Chemistry)

Qualifications:

Experience in chemistry is preferred, but not required.

Experience in laboratory setting and willingness to perform laboratory tasks including manual sample preparations and pipetting.

Leadership skills and ability to manage operations of the chemistry team.

Good team attitude. Working knowledge of lab safety, and great attention to detail.
