What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Manager position at InterMed?
The Manager will provide direct supervision to InterMed’s growing IT team; currently comprised of our IT Project Manager, IT Systems Engineer, Systems Specialists, and Clinical System Analysts, while working collaboratively with managers, physicians, and senior leaders. The Manager is responsible for digital patient/consumer experiences across the entire organization and its operations, as well as responsible for understanding the use of digital technologies to enable better business service delivery and for understanding the use of information technologies to enable better business decision making. The Manager’s focus is to enhance the relationship between an organization and its patients/consumer through optimizing the management of organizational data components.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Overall responsibility for personnel management and staffing of the department
- Supervises staff and creates a positive work environment that encourages the exchange of ideas and knowledge
- Monitors workflow and daily departmental activities by effectively managing and organizing staff to meet deadlines
- Facilitates annual evaluations of staff
- Mentors and counsels staff, including timely performance management, feedback, and development
- Participates in quality measure initiatives, monitors KPI goals and expectations; attends group meetings and organizational committees
- Supports the Information Security Management function of the organization, including the development, documentation, implementation, operation, and maintenance of all information security programs, and heads ongoing activities to preserve the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of organization information resources in compliance with applicable security policies and standards.
- Safeguards the organization's computers, networks, and data against threats, such as security breaches, computer viruses, or attacks by cyber-criminals, avoiding loss of confidential information, lost revenue, and fines from regulatory agencies for failing to protect data.
- Cultivates a shared vision for the department that is consistent with the organizations’ vision, mission, and values
- Responsible for seamless integration of digital and information technology assets throughout product and service design.
- Responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of technical projects in alignment with the organization’s goals and strategic plans
- Establishes criteria for monitoring progress and measuring success of digital transformation projects or initiatives.
- Works collaboratively with subject matter experts in the Operations, Finance, and Business intelligence departments to define business requirements to determine technology needs
- Confer with clinical personnel (direct and indirect caregivers) to determine information needs and instruct software engineers to make changes to software or system design.
- Responsible for monitoring the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency, and developing proactive plans to execute upgrades, configurations, and/or new systems accordingly
- Establishes systems, workflows, and processes to effectively direct the delivery of networks and disaster recovery
- Creates consistent processes, standards, and review requirements for the selection, implementation, and support of new systems to meet our evolving clinical and operational business needs
- Ensures smooth delivery and operation of IT services by monitoring systems performance and maintaining organizational SLA’s
- Responsible for performing advanced application system analysis and design to include requirements, specifications, configuration, documentation, testing, and implementation of system.
- Responsible for building and managing relationships with external vendors, creating cost-efficient contracts, and ensuring vendors meet their Service Level Agreements.
- Participates and provides subject matter expertise in policy and decision making for information services issues, including establishing priorities and assessing needs related to compliance, security, and privacy rules and regulations
- Helps develop, manage, and track the IT operating and capital budgets; in partnership with the CIO
- Collaborates with the Directors of Operations to develop implementation plans for new technology and or updates of existing technology and to determine the operational impacts of these plans
- Maintains competency in and thorough understanding of trends and technology futures in digital health. This would include interop-proper and also mobile apps, consumer devices, application programing interfaces and digital platforms (technology and identity access concerns most notably).
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum of five or more years information technology experience in a healthcare setting
- IT management experience required, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Experience with in-house and shared or outsourced information systems, multiple hardware platforms, and integrated information and communications systems
- Experience with clinical management information systems
- Capable of managing and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously and balancing the use of resources effectively
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly to all levels of the organization
- Ability to synthesize and communicate complex information to different audiences with varying backgrounds is required
- Ability to effectively prioritize, organize, and plan work independently is required
- Excellent communication skills required: listening, oral and written
