Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Manager to join our team as a key player in ensuring the safety and well-being of our workforce. As a Safety Manager, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs and policies to maintain compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company objectives. The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical safety practices, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a culture of safety throughout our organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Program Development: Develop, implement, evaluate and continually improve comprehensive safety programs and policies. Create and maintain a training schedule. Effectively collaborate with field and office staff, contractors, and vendors. Proactively enhances and maintains an ongoing awareness of a culture of safety. Ensure organizational compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.
  • Training and Education: Conduct safety training sessions for employees, emphasizing electrical safety practices, hazard recognition, and safe work procedures. Provide ongoing education to keep the workforce informed of industry best practices and emerging safety trends. Review and update virtual and in-person trainings regularly to reflect industry best practice.
  • Job Site Inspections: Perform regular and thorough inspections of job sites to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventative action and maintains follow-up monitoring. Collaborate with field leadership and project managers to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions promptly. Conduct and manage weekly safety meetings on job sites.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, or near misses, analyzing root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Maintain accurate records of all safety-related incidents and their resolutions.
  • Safety Audits and Reporting: Conduct safety audits to assess the effectiveness of safety programs and identify areas for improvement. Prepare and deliver regular safety reports to management, highlighting key metrics, trends, and areas of concern. Maintains Safety Manual. Manage work-related injuries. Coordinate medical case .
  • Emergency Response Planning: Develop and implement emergency response plans for incidents. Coordinate drills and training exercises to ensure the readiness of the workforce in case of emergencies.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

  • Full working knowledge and understanding of construction safety.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical environmental and safety requirements to safety, field staff, project managers and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with a geographically dispersed team in diverse work environments.
  • Ability to identify and create best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Advanced skills in reading, analyzing, and interpreting safety-related data and regulatory
  • Ability to draft reports, internal procedures, performance reviews, training programs and presentations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other departments, customers, clients, guests, and regulatory staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skill including conflict management.
  • Highly proficient in working across departments and organization.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, proficient in MS Office Suite with the ability to quickly learn and adopt innovative programs and software. ProCore knowledge a plus.
  • Current First Aid/CPR
  • Current OSHA 30
  • OSHA 500 Certification is highly preferred
  • Current MSHA 5000-23
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CSP, CIH) is a plus.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field or a relevant combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years experience in a progressive safety role, preferably in the electrical contracting or construction industry.
  • Experience managing safety in a Union Environment highly desired.

 

Working Conditions:

The majority of the time you will work in a typical office environment, the remainder of the time you will be on construction job sites. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space.  You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

Salary Range:
