Overview

IDG is looking for a Data and Integration Architect who will be accountable for our corporate data ecosystem.

 

The Data and Integration Architect is responsible for designing, creating, and managing IDG’s enterprise data architecture, data architecture standards and ensuring the smooth flow of data across various platforms and systems (both on premise and cloud). This role is critical in establishing a solid foundation for enterprise data at IDG and ensuring that data is organized, managed and processed securely and consistently to enable interconnectivity throughout the enterprise. The Data and Integration Architect will be responsible for setting standards around data modeling, data integration and data engineering best practices and data security design.  This is a highly collaborative role where the architect will provide standards and guidance to partners across IDG

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the information architecture for all initiatives across the enterprise
  • Provide strategic recommendations to maximize the value of information assets creation, access and use across the enterprise aligned with the target architecture.
  • Improve the enterprise information solutions and capabilities, such as master data management (MDM), metadata management, analytics, data integration and information management infrastructure components.
  • Create and manage information models including conceptual model and relevant material necessary to support both structured and unstructured data assets.
  • Classify information per security guidelines and design for the data security requirements.
  • Develop the patterns and standards for data ingestion, data processing, data storage, metadata management, data quality improvement and data security.
  • Provide expert advice to project teams on use of integration technology, data architecture and modeling, system architecture including integration best practices
  • Assist in the development of information governance processes.
  • Ensure database designs efficiently support BI and end-user requirements
  • Collaborate with development teams to create data pipelines for data ingestion and transformation.
  • Actively research current and emerging technologies and propose change where appropriate.
  • Perform proof of concept as needed working with development and DevOps teams.
  • Build and demonstrate trusting and credible relationships with product owners, business owners, business and IT stakeholders
  • Understand requirements and advises on scope and options for continuous operational improvement.
  • Demonstrate creativity and innovation in applying solutions for the benefit of the customer/stakeholder.

Qualifications

  • 15 years IT experience
  • 3 years’ experience as a data architect
  • 5 years of experience in data Transformation/ETL tools and technologies, data catalogs, big data, data lakes, data Warehouses, BI tools and graph databases
  • Strong knowledge or experience with NoSQL database design.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server
  • Fluent in both normalized and dimensional model disciplines and techniques.
  • Snowflake, AWS, Azure, or other industry-leading platforms
  • Experience or certifications in relevant technologies/disciplines (AWS certification preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree required (Computer Science or related field preferred)
  • Familiarity with data science concepts, MDM design and implementation techniques.
  • Knowledge of TOGAF, Cloud Security and SAFe agile delivery practices.
  • Effective communication, presentation, collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office and data modeling tools.

 This position can be based in IDG’s Needham, MA office with a hybrid work schedule of 2 days/week in the office. We will consider remote candidates from an approved US office location in an EST Zone.

At IDG we are committed to fair and equitable pay practices. We pay our employees equitably for their work, commensurate with their individual skills and experience. Salary range and additional compensation, including discretionary bonuses and incentive pay, are determined by a rigorous review process. This process considers the experience, education, certifications, and skills required for the specific role, equity with similarly situated employees, as well as employer-verified US region-specific market data provided by an independent 3rd party partner. The anticipated total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is between $184,200 and $200,000 and is inclusive of base salary and variable compensation (if applicable).
