The Job You Will Perform:
The Recycling Region Controller is a business partner with the Plant system Area GM and a key leader of the Plant system Management team. The Controller directs the financial activities of the Region by establishing and maintaining effective fiscal procedures and controls, reporting and analyzing performance, and partnering with Plant Management to plan and direct the actions needed to maximize the safety, engagement, and financial performance of the Region. They provide leadership to the finance staff within their Region to direct financial policy and procedures, and provide coaching and guidance for their professional development. The Region Controller will also be engaged in overall business strategic direction and finance activities.
The Midwest Region Controller position has responsibility for four plants in the US. The plants are located in: Des Moines, IA; Itasca, IL; Omaha, NE; Roseville, MN. This position will lead a finance team of 4-5 people; consisting of Region Generalists and Plant Finance Specialists. Average total annual revenue in the US Midwest Region is approximately $40 million.
- Strategic partner with Plant Area GM and key member of Plant system Leadership Team.
- Ensure the Region maintains accurate financial records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and business is conducted in compliance with established business and corporate policies, procedures, and practices.
- Ensure the assets and cash flows of the Region are properly managed and protected by maintaining an adequate system of internal controls.
- Manage the preparation and analysis of forecasts, the annual operating, strategic, and capital plans in collaboration with Plant and Area Management.
- Preparation of reporting and analysis of operating results to assist the Plant and Area Management in their accomplishment of business objectives.
- Develop qualified financial personnel for the company by providing coaching and guidance, supervision, and training for the financial organization within the Region.
- Supervise financial staff on day-to-day accounting functions and applicable analytical work.
- Provide financial guidance to Plant Management, Sourcing, Operations, and Administrative personnel, as well as Technical Services staff.
- Maintain solid working knowledge of information technology systems and software applications; including transaction processing governance and general ledger impacts.
- Manage the development, approval, and execution of capital strategy and project proposals.
- Participate in special projects across the entire business or Finance function as needed.
The Skills You Will Bring:
- Minimum BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum seven years in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of three years in a direct or indirect leadership role
- Accounting and Controls; GAAP knowledge and Financial Concepts
- Forecasting, Budgeting, and Strategic Planning
- Performance Reporting and Analysis
- Financial Modeling
- SAP and Business ERP systems Working Knowledge and related general ledger impacts
- Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time.
