Job Description
Under the supervision and guidance of the Operations Manager, the Inventory Assistant is responsible for collecting, organizing, tracking, and disbursing in-kind resources and purchased inventory. The Inventory Assistant should maintain storage space, support procurement efforts, and satisfy recordkeeping and reporting requirements. They help to locate, pick up and, coordinate the distribution of furniture and household items to newly resettled families in Wichita, KS. They also assist in setting up apartments and purchasing required household items, maintaining IRC storage units, and securing new donation partners to provide for our clients. This role requires lifting and moving furniture when needed as part of the housing set up process and involves direct interaction with IRC clients and community partners. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: · Label, organize, and track items, and ensure storage facilities are well-secured, clean, and properly maintained · Manage on-and offsite storage of household goods and personal effects intended for distribution to IRC clients · Coordinate the daily operations of donation storage areas by stocking and supporting the distribution of in-kind goods in an organized manner. · Collaborate with colleagues and members of the community to safely load, unload, and disburse goods in strict accordance with IRC and donor requirements · Ensure accurate record keeping to account for and track incoming and outgoing inventory within IRC’s data management systems. · Streamline the collection of in-kind goods and distribution, in collaboration with the direct service team and to meet specific program requirements and targets · Secure in-kind donations of furniture, household supplies, and other client needs · Assist in the coordination of donation pickups from community members · Carry out household setups and purchases, including moving mattresses, furniture, and household goods · General office duties, and administrative support · Other duties as assigned · High school diploma or GED preferred. · Professional experience in business administration, supply chain, retail, not-for-profit, or similar field preferred. · Demonstrated success working and communicating effectively in a multi-cultural environment. · Attention to detail and accuracy in work product. · Valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle. · Ability to regularly lift ~50 lbs. · Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to use the internet and other digital tools for data entry, research, and problem-solving purposes. · Strong relationship building, diplomacy, and networking skills; ability to effectively build internal and external relationships. · Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the proven ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. · Fluent in English, both spoken and written; proficiency in language(s) spoken by client group is desired (Spanish, Pashto, Dari, Swahili, French) · Demonstrated ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects IRC’s core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. Ability to lead in a way that recognizes that IRC’s work is best accomplished through the true collaboration of individuals from many cultures with a great variety of skills and perspectives. · A combination of standard office environment, remote work, and ‘field’ time within the service delivery area to perform the above outlined responsibilities. · May require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
