Job Description

Job Background / Overview:
Formed in 1933, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work today in over 40 countries and 20 U.S. cities, we restore safety, dignity and hope to millions of refugees who are uprooted and struggling to endure.

The International Philanthropy and Partnerships (IPP) team leads engagement with corporations, foundations, and international philanthropists globally, as well as IRC’s efforts related to new funding streams (such as faith-based, donor-advised funds, and innovative financing). IPP maintains a growing portfolio of strategic partnerships in the U.S. and other markets, primarily in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa, all matching funder interests with the IRC’s extensive programs globally.

The Senior Officer sits within IPP’s Global Foundations & Trusts (F&T) pillar, managing a portfolio of partners supporting the IRC through financial and other commitments. They are responsible for tailoring engagement strategies that focus on sustained and new revenue generation and humanitarian impact through innovative, outcomes-based partnerships. The ideal candidate understands the needs and performance of U.S.-based donors and prospects, efficiently communicates and collaborates with colleagues and partners, offers creative solutions, and uses systems to continually grow and improve existing and new donor relationships. This position also supports the F&T U.S. Market Director in crafting and implementing the relevant portfolio strategy, as well as mentoring junior colleagues and playing a key role as an F&T representative within the team and wider organization.

Major Responsibilities:
Establish funding goals and benchmarks for a portfolio of private sector foundation partners that serve the IRC’s clients across the world;
Design and implement comprehensive outreach, solicitation and management strategies for partners, driving partnership discussions, proposal submissions, and pitches;
Establish a robust servicing plan for each foundation partner, including identifying key performance indicators, and ongoing planning and reporting procedures to optimize quality of service, income growth, and donor satisfaction;
Enlist and support senior IRC staff and Board members in high-level relationship management and partnership solicitations with strategy insight, briefing materials and appropriate follow-up;
Monitor and analyze philanthropic trends to improve market opportunities and ensure partnership propositions are compelling and driven;
Ensure open, relevant and respectful communication is maintained between the IRC and private sector partners as well as IRC colleagues globally;
Serve as a model and resource for other IPP Foundation & Trust members working to successfully lead high-impact foundation-based partnerships; and
Maintain clear CRM records that allow for comprehensive tracking/reporting.

Essential Qualifications:
Work Experience:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferred Master’s degree or equivalent 6-8 years of front-line foundation and/or corporate fundraising experience

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including speaking to and writing for donors, and crafting compelling proposals and pitch materials;
Coordinating with multiple collaborators, and leading complex internal and external relationships;
Knowledge of foundation philanthropy planning processes, and issues affecting the sector;
Working to, and meeting, high-reaching revenue goals and performance indicators, as well as participating in financial projections, reporting, and scenario planning;
Maintaining positive, collaborative, productive relationships with staff at all levels and across cultures;
Good judgment in maintaining confidentiality of donor information;
Translating an organization’s strategy and objectives into operational delivery;
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, devising creative solutions to complex problems and issues;
Analyzing and interpreting financial data, as well as understanding budget models; and
Dedication to fundraising for international development, human rights, social justice and U.S. refugee and immigrant communities.
English fluency required

Desired Qualifications:
CRM experience – Salesforce preferred

Working Environment:
This role may require working remotely full- or part-time (i.e., telecommuting). Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace they can effectively complete their work from during regularly scheduled hours.

Compensation:
Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.

Commitment to Diversity and Inclusivity:

Gender Equality:
IRC is committed to narrowing the gender gap in leadership positions. We offer benefits that provide an enabling environment for women to participate in our workforce including parental leave, gender-sensitive security protocols and other supportive benefits and allowances.
