SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

CLASS A

Operate all cranes safely

Rig properly and safely

Start all cranes and understand controls

Read and understand load charts for rigging

Read and understand load charts for cranes

Good rigging habits and experience

Know ISR paperwork (timesheets, equipment sheets, etc.)

Certified to run forklifts and sky tracks

Good safety attitude and good attendance

Knows how and performs lubrication maintenance on equipment

CLASS AA

Same as CLASS A plus the following

Able to run Bob Cats and frontend loaders

Learning how to break down booms and jibs and change out cables

CLASS AAA

Same as CLASS AA plus the following

Break down booms and jibs

Change out cables

Figure weights for different materials

Work well with little or no supervision

Supervise others when necessary

Able to train less experienced operators

RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Must have HS diploma and 3-5 years shipyard experience in the operation of crane lifting systems.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one or small group situation before customers, clients or employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, US metric conversions, weight and volume.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Forklift operator certification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Specific physical requirements include:

Ability to lift 50-75 pounds on a consistent, daily basis

Ability to bend, stoop, climb aboard ships and cranes

Ability to utilize both hands to grasp rails while climbing, to hold and carry tools and equipment, and to operate tools and machinery

Ability to withstand extreme heat in outside climate or confined spaces

Physically and medically qualified to wear all required PPE as prescribed.

Pay: $23.10 - $26.40 per hour

  • 8 hour shift
  • Evening shift
  • Overtime
