What are we looking for?
We're looking for a highly motivated Business Analyst to help drive product strategy and inform the development backlog.
The Business Analyst is a highly collaborative role working with our Product Management, Architecture, and development teams to identify market needs and break down business requirements that drive features in our products. The Business Analyst also represents the customer when working with the technical teams and is a key role in Agile Development.
As the Business Analyst you will be part of the Product Management team at Alchemy, Austin, and will report to the Director of Product Management.
What you'll do:
- Transform business requirements into detailed development requirements
- Review development requirements with Project Team, Product Management, business stakeholders, architects, development teams, and periodically with customers. Work with Product Owners to adjust and continue to refine the requirements until they are ready to be consumed by the development teams.
- Continually review what the development teams produce to make sure that it is consistent with what customers and the market need.
- Become an expert in Alchemy products, customer requirements, relevant markets, competitive products, and technological trends.
- Interview customers to identify their preferences and develop requirements based on those needs.
- Stay abreast of industry needs and educate others on changing needs.
- Gather information from other departments to help focus on the customer needs that will maximize revenue.
- Act as a knowledge resource for Engineering and Product regarding customer behavior.
- Effectively communicate and adapt for all levels. Facilitate meetings and draw ideas from others. Actively solicit participation, feedback, and discussion from stakeholders.
- Contribute to the research, design, and modification of existing software.
What you bring to the table:
- Thoroughly enjoy working with customers, business teams and technical teams to create impactful and transformative solutions.
- Excellent analytical skills especially related to software technology.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Software technology skills as a user/consumer/customer. Quick study with how web-based, PC-based, and mobile software works, and knowledgeable with latest trends in user experience.
- A team player and someone that builds collaboration and works toward consensus in a team setting. Excellent listening skills and always open to new ideas no matter how or when they originate. Willing to adjust based on what is best for Alchemy.
- Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
- This position requires some travel within the United States and perhaps internationally (5% - 10%)
- Knowledge of safety and training requirements for frontline food workers.
Essential skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, animal science, animal husbandry and production, or related field, and 3-6 years of relevant experience.
