PSI, an Intertek company, is searching for a Mechanical & Metallurgical Testing Manager to join our Building & Construction team in our Portland, OR office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry!

How you’ll make an impact at Intertek:

Responsible for the overall management of a profit center including:

• Supports Building and Construction business.
• Provides technical oversight, client consultation.
• Develops business including profit and loss management.
• Prepares proposals.
• Leads employees to achieve optimal quality, safety, and production.
• Provides training and guidance to employees related to their job duties.
• Enforces company policies and procedures.
• Oversees management of internal quality program and accreditation.
• Manages recruitment, hiring and onboarding process.
• Monitors progress towards department goals.
• Performs project management related duties.
• Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.

What it takes to be successful in this role:

• Master’s Degree in Materials/Metals Engineering, Metallurgy, Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline is required
• Ph.D. in Materials/Metals Engineering, Metallurgy, Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline is preferred
• PE License preferred
• 2 years' in product testing, material failure investigations and laboratory testing experience required
• Knowledge of mechanical and physical of metals and non-metal components required
• Weld procedure development and testing experience required
• Enhanced Computer Skills
• Must be customer focused and quality driven
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal & written communication
• May travel up to 5% of time
