Intertek is looking for a Welding Inspector to join our US Site Construction team in Buras, LA!
The Welding Inspector is responsible for ensuring that the Project Quality Plan in conjunction with Project Execution Plan is developed and implemented. This role will promote quality awareness throughout the organization, emphasizing excellence, continuous improvement, and corrective action to influence the overall success of company business. Duties:
Welding (Large Bore Closure Welding & Small-Bore Spool Fabrication)
- Ensuring Contractors QC are verifying welder adherence to their approved WPS welding parameters for Base Materials, Filler Materials, Shielding & Purging gases, Amps, Volts and Travel speeds.
- Ensure they are checking fabrication assembly dimensional requirements.
- Weekly Surveillances of contractors’ material traceability maps, weld trackers, welder qualification records.
NDE
- Ensure Contractor QC is verifying adherence to approved NDE procedures and ensuring that the personnel performing the NDE and reviewing the results are trained, certified, and that the documentation meets or exceeds the project and Industry Code minimum NDE requirements.
Coatings
- Verifying adherence to project coating requirements.
- Contractor surface preparation, layered coating application, Final DFT and Visual Inspection and ensure daily coating records are being maintained.
Hydrotesting
- Perform surveillance of the Contractor QC ensuring Contractor is safely performing hydrotesting to a project approved procedure with calibrated equipment and that after completion of the test they are ensuring the item being tested is properly cleaned and dried to the project Build It Clean requirements.
Preservation
- Verify that Contractor is keeping their machined sealing surfaces of all flanged fittings, valves, vessels etc. protected from mechanical damage and preserved from atmospheric corrosion.
Requirements:
- Current AWS CWI and NACE Level II Required
- At least 10 years industry experience and 5 years of Quality surveillance experience performing ASME Sect. IX and AWS D1.1 weld surveillance, RT, UT Through Thickness & MT, PT Surface NDE Surveillance, Hydrotesting and NACE Level II Coating, ITP verification/completion and surveillance
- Proficient Microsoft Office suite computer skills
