What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assembly Technician R&D position at Intralox?
Intralox, L.L.C. is hiring an Assembly Technician for the Equipment R&D Group for the Hanover, MD office to focus on transitioning new products from R&D to full scale production. These individuals will be members of a dedicated subset of R&D focused on developing internal processes to successfully launch new products and provide technical support to current product launches. This position involves developing, documenting, and training of assembly & maintenance practices for new products, supporting first article installations, and troubleshooting often in customer facilities. These positions will report to the Equipment R&D Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for assembly and testing of custom and developmental equipment, often at customer facilities.
- Responsible for developing & documenting optimal assembly practices through repeated assembly and disassembly trials.
- Provide training to internal assembly teams, aftersales support, and customers.
- Support the development and fabrication of jigs & fixtures to improve production rates and ensure a consistent high level of quality.
- Manage the replacement of incorrect parts, at times fabricating parts in house to meet ship dates.
- Prepare to offer solutions to issues that will occur.
- Follow all safety procedures and policies.
- Perform housekeeping duties as required.
- Work overtime and on weekends as required
- Exhibit teamwork and self-management practices.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a related industry
- Ability to read and understand manufacturer's drawings and manuals.
- Self-motivated and self-managed to learn about technology and improve processes.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Effective communication and relationship skills with engineering groups, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure.
- Proficient with all hand tools (powered and non).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Methodical approach to troubleshooting and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including the ability to lift and carry 45 pounds.
- Travel may be required up to 20%, work weekends, holidays, and overtime when required.
Desired Skills:
- Metal fabrication skills including welding, machining, sheet metal forming.
- Ability to work and read precision tools including, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, feeler gages, gage pins, gage blocks, and other measurement tools.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts
- Experience with industrial conveyors.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, two years of community college / trade school, or five years of experience in a related industry.
- Proficient with forklifts and vertical lifts.
