Job Title: Equipment Buyer
Reports To: Fleet Compliance Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Equipment Buyer is responsible for strategic sourcing and supply management of construction equipment, work trucks and related tooling. This position ensures equipment and trucks meeting our specifications are readily available at the lowest total cost. This position will perform other procurement and buying activities as necessary for the success of the department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Manage the supply chain processes for our construction equipment and truck acquisitions including but not limited to the development of a responsive supply base along with sourcing strategies, cost reduction strategies and management of supplier performance.
· Work closely with Superintendents, Project Managers and Fleet personnel in standardizing equipment specifications and meeting project vehicle and equipment needs.
· Develop the long-term equipment acquisition strategy and solicit feedback on supply chain performance.
· Develop performance monitoring systems and manage supplier performance to ensure that contract terms and conditions are being met or exceeded.
· Conduct research into category spend and develop initiatives to reduce total cost of ownership and improve processes.
· Accountable for category purchases (including tactical); become involved on an as-needed basis to resolve emergent issues.
· Leverage knowledge of suppliers, supply base and market conditions to determine when to re-visit the strategic sourcing strategy.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· 3 years of experience required as an Equipment Buyer in the Utility and or Construction industry
· Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.
· Strong working knowledge of vocational truck specifications and up-fitting for construction applications.
· Experience in procuring construction equipment and truck, including negotiation of contracts and conducting data analysis.
· Demonstrated knowledge of supply management concepts and procurement processes.
· Solid communication skills both verbal and written.
· Travel requirements: 10% or as required by business needs.
· Knowledgeable of supply base for acquiring construction vehicles and up-fitting services
· Knowledge of equipment financing options.
· Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and ERP system functions.
