Software Engineer- Game Engine

Intrepid Studios is looking for a dedicated Software Engineer- Game Engine to join us, here in beautiful Southern California. This role will report to the Lead Networking Engineer and support them by developing core systems in C to ensure that we continue to deliver to our community great experiences that only Intrepid can provide! This is a great opportunity to unleash your creativity and partner with talented game veterans to craft a unique MMORPG that helps bring people together.

What you will accomplish:

• Integrate new features and modify existing systems within Unreal Engine and an established proprietary codebase

• Profile and optimize code for enhanced performance and efficiency
• Collaborate with other developers to integrate and support requested features
• Create and document complex systems in a clear manner for others to rely on as a reference and potentially expand upon
• Participate in team code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, identify potential issues, and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement

What you bring to the team:

• A minimum of 3 years of Unreal Engine Experience
• Knowledge of Unreal Engine’s architecture
• Strong knowledge of C  
• Problem-solving skills with an emphasis on debugging C code.
• Knowledge of profiling and optimizing applications for CPU usage
• Experience with version control such as Git and Perforce
• A positive, collaborative, and self-motivated mindset that works well with other developers
• Ability to articulate (both in written and verbal methods) complex processes in a clear manner
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related equivalent experience

Extra Awesome:

• Systems-level programming and debugging experience on Linux (WSL/GDB/LLDB)
• Familiarity with Unreal Insights
• Familiarity with online gaming backend services such as PlayFab, Azure, or AWS
• Familiarity with microservice architectures and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with cyber security methods and practices
• Experience with AAA game development
• A Passion for making and playing MMO games
• Familiarity with Ashes of Creation

The Legal Bits:

We offer competitive pay based on market standards plus a significant annual bonus structure. The base salary for this role is between $98,000 - $137,200, depending on skills and experience. Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall throughout the range based on these factors.
