Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the Production department, ensuring compliance with cGMPs and SOPs, maximizing production efficiency, and enhancing product quality while minimizing raw material waste.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct regular inspections of department facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with SOPs, cGMPs, and safety requirements
- Schedule and issue work orders for equipment maintenance and repair, and coordinate with Engineering for equipment changes and upgrades
- Monitor production and daily operations to maintain departmental quality standards
- Supervise, train, and develop personnel to ensure adherence to cGMPs and enhance work quality and quantity
- Develop and update standard operating procedures for current and future processes
- Ensure raw material usage and product yields meet or exceed standards
- Coordinate with senior management to determine production requirements, prioritize work, and increase customer service and departmental efficiency
- Provide technical support for staff, troubleshoot equipment and processes, and evaluate tooling performance
- Ensure safe practices are being performed and correct unsafe conditions
- Review completed manufacturing and packaging batch records in a timely manner
- Manage employee performance, including training, evaluations, hiring, disciplinary actions, and termination, in accordance with company guidelines and union contract
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing/packaging environment with at least 3 years of production leadership experience
- BS in a technical discipline or equivalent education/technical work experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience with a successful track record of completing deliverables on schedule and on budget
- Proven ability to apply standards and set strategies to deliver business objectives
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to effectively prioritize work assignments, meet commitments, and deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
- Experience with FDA and EU regulations
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
