Mandatory All Staff Training: Tuesday, June 18 (9:00 am - 11:00 am)

All Summer Academy staff are required to attend the full day training.

- SA Program Dates: Summer Academy will be held Monday - Thursdays for 15 school days:
- June 24-27
- July 1-3 (3 day week)
- July 8-11
- July 15-18
- Classroom Preparation: Teachers will receive keys to their classroom at the training on Tuesday, June 18. Hilltop building hours for teachers to set-up their classroom and prepare for students will be 7:30 - 2:30 pm Thursday, June 20th - Friday, June 21st.
Hours: 7:20 - 12:20 pm (Students Hours are 7:40 am - 11:50 am with school doors opening at 7:30 am)
- Teachers are required to be on-site from 7:20 am -12:20 pm each school day.
- Training: All Summer Academy teaching staff are required to attend a full day training on Tuesday, June 18th from 9:00-3:00 pm and will be paid at the daily rate of $130.00.
- Teachers will be paid one additional hour of prep daily. Prep can take place on or off campus.
- Final Day - July 18th: The final day of Summer Academy (July 18th) all staff must be on site for program closing and clean up an extra hour (until 1:30 pm).
Essential Functions:
This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills.
- Translates written documents from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English.
- Translates orally from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English during conferences, IEP meetings, telephone calls, testing, information gathering from other school districts, emergency situations, etc.
- Assists Spanish-speaking students and their families with the school enrollment process.
- Communicate with appropriate ESL teachers, classroom teachers and other district staff personnel as necessary on academic matters.
- Promote family attendance and involvement in summer school conferences and events.
- As requested by district staff, provide select home/site visit assistance to families.
- Promote full consideration of individual needs of culturally diverse learners in the academic environment.
- Coordinate interpreters for parent teacher conferences, meetings and IEP meetings.
- Provide information to the district, students, parents and community to promote cultural awareness and ensure effective partnerships.
- Performs other related work as required

Education and Experience:
High School diploma and demonstrated ability to speak, understand, read and write fluently in both English and Spanish; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abi

Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Required Knowledge:
- Requires the ability to speak in Spanish and English to convey or exchange information.
- Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, etc. in English and Spanish.
- Requires the ability to write using standard conventions in English and Spanish.
Required Skills:
- Considerable knowledge of both the Spanish and English languages.
- Skill in translating spoken words from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English at a normal speaking rate.
- Ability to translate verbal messages to written documents and written documents to verbal messages in both Spanish and English.
- Ability to adapt language based on the level of the student and parent.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
Working Environment
- Supports each building in the district. Travels between buildings as needed.

Additional Program Details: Free breakfast and lunch is provided to all students registered for the Summer Academy program. Transportation is available before and after school to students who live within the district boundaries.
