The Department:
As a key component of the Investment Solutions, Product Strategy & GPMR department, the Americas Competitive Research (ACR) unit is responsible for providing product, market, and competitive insight to internal business areas across the firm. ACR provides in-depth product research and analysis to enhance business development opportunities in North America. The group also provides market intelligence to support product development/ rationalization efforts and strategic product line initiatives. Furthermore, ACR supports product positioning efforts through careful analysis of the competitive marketplace. ACR works with a wide array of internal clients including the Invesco Board, Legal/Compliance, Product Development, Sales, Marketing, and various investment teams.
The Role:
The Associate Product Analyst for the Americas Competitive Research unit will participate in a variety of investment and product-related research projects and initiatives. Role responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Enhance automation and maintain production of recurring reports
- Generate monthly and quarterly reporting packages related to fund health assessments and monitoring of home office platforms
- Constantly look for opportunities to enhance content and efficiency of report production through automation or database construction
- Perform quality control checks as required for various reporting components
- Collaborate with other internal teams such as Performance Measurement, Analytics & Reporting or Risk as needed
- Provide competitive intelligence to various internal business partners
- Support Product Managers, Client Portfolio Managers and Investment Due Diligence Directors in identifying and tracking key competitors and uncovering potential takeover opportunities
- Assist Invesco’s US product development efforts by providing research on peer group construction, historical performance, and pricing-related information
- Support US retail distribution channels in product-related research and analysis
- Provide thorough information related to investment performance, process, positioning, and characteristics.
- Work with Product Management, and other internal teams to develop informative and educational pieces on high priority opportunities for use by Sales in the field
- Participate in construction of fund firm recommended lists in 3rd party system for monitoring purposes.
- Leverage technology to build out reports/alerts against several data points for proactive trend analysis
- Provide support to Wealth Management Intermediaries (WMI). Typical activities associated with this role include:
- Producing competitor comparisons using 3rd party systems requested by colleagues across WMI
- Helping identify and anticipate client product needs by conducting insightful competitive intelligence
- Highlighting each WMP’s strengths, weaknesses, and gaps, and overlay these against Invesco’s market credible capabilities
- Developing an understanding of each WMP’s product offering set and their decision-making process
- Collaborating with colleagues to identify new ways to leverage platform product data that can lead to incremental insights
- Participate on special projects as needed
- Assume a supporting role in various projects revolving around home office client engagement
The Experience You Bring
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the financial services industry is preferred to successfully perform the responsibilities of this position
- OR some technical experience outside of the industry involving the manipulation of data and report building infrastructure
- Ability to use technology to maximize efficiency (experience with any of the following would be a plus: Power BI, Tableau, Python, VBA)
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Team player with proven ability to gain consensus
- Customer service orientation with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Strong organizational aptitude: ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
- Keen interest in understanding investment products, performance, and risk
- Any experience with research databases and software systems is a plus (e.g., Lipper LANA, Morningstar Direct and Report Portal, Strategic Insight, and eVestment Alliance)
Formal Education: (minimum requirement to perform job duties)
- Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Marketing, CS, IT, or a related field is preferred, but not limited to these areas.
