Mortgage Training and Development Representative

IBMC is looking for a Training and Development Representative to join our Relationship Management team! Under the direction of the Business Development Manager, the Training and Development Rep will be an important piece of the support services IBMC offers to our bank partners. This role will have direct engagement with our participating banks and will also serve as a liaison between IBMC staff and those partners. The ideal candidate will have at least five years’ experience in Mortgage, be proficient in Fannie Mae guidelines, FHA, VA and RD guidelines, familiarity with HFA programs, and the logistics of the secondary mortgage process from start to finish. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about engaging with and assisting our valued partners. In this role, key responsibilities will include:

  • Representing IBMC as a part of the relationship team, you will have the opportunity to provide training to both individual banks and in mixed-group settings. This includes new bank/channel training and industry-specific education. This role will also provide the autonomy to create new trainings and opportunities for both virtual and in-person sessions.
  • In this role, you will also be responsible for providing regularly scheduled training classes for existing partner banks. Topics include, but are not limited to: Core, Heritage, Alliance, Government and HFA training.
  • A key responsibility will also be to continually monitor and develop training materials as needed – updating to reflect the ever-changing industry guidelines and products.
  • You will also work as part of the relationship team to promote and market IBMC to all banks throughout Iowa and adjacent states. This could include participating in bank visits, conventions, and other opportunities as defined.
  • You will participate in developing marketing and training tools, in print and digital media format, to be used to promote IBMC.
  • As part of a collaborative team, you will participate in other projects and initiatives as needed.

Required Education – College Degree or equivalent experience.

Required Work Experience – Five to seven years processing/underwriting and closing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 5 years mortgage-specific experience in aforementioned areas.

Technology Skills – PPT, excel, DU/DO, LP, Virtual technology (Zoom, Teams, etc.). SalesForce is beneficial but not required.

Required Skills or traits for the position – Ability to understand the entire mortgage process, specifically including a very good understanding of secondary market products and guidelines and know how a mortgage department fits into the folds of a community bank. Ability to effectively and confidently present to groups ranging in size from one-on-one to large-group sessions and discern the training needs to provide dynamic and meaningful training. Understanding of audience and the ability to interface with both executive and entry-level partners. Ability to discern the needs of a bank and discuss different options that best fit the specific culture and organizational structure. Ability to travel multiple times per month and flexibility with schedule that will include out-of-state travel.

Specialized Training/Certifications – NMLS number – Obtain within 90 days of employment.
