Property Manager

This is a part time position (20-25 hours per week) and will be a hybrid position with work being done from home, from our office in Des Moines, AND will require travel around the state of Iowa.

Position Overview:

The Conference Property Manager is a vital part of the Conference mission to inspire, equip and connect communities of faith to cultivate world-transforming disciples of Jesus Christ. The primary role of the Conference Property Manager is the management and care of Conference-owned properties, upholding their successful operation, security, and safety. This person oversees the transfer of abandoned properties and closed churches to the Conference, as well as the Conference general liability insurance and offers recommendations to the Conference Trustees, the Episcopal Residence Committee, and all local churches in the Conference.

 

The Conference Property Manager works closely with the cabinet and is responsible for managing all properties, including but not limited to the Conference Center and the Episcopal residence. This position will educate and partner with District Boards of Church Buildings and Location, and they will work with the cabinet and the Conference Board of Trustees so that all property issues are attended to in a timely manner.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Conference Staff along with Board and Agency Chairs for maintenance of Conference Properties, including but not limited to the Conference Center and Episcopal Residence.

  • Organize and manage, in collaboration with the Cabinet, Board of Trustees, District Building and Location, and local churches, best practices related to properties (ie: church closing, parsonage evaluations, insurance), so that all districts are aligned in practices and policies and decisions can be made efficiently.

  • Communicate and coordinate information sharing related to properties across the organization.

  • Work closely with the Treasurer, Conference Chancellor, and chairs of Finance and Administration, Board of Trustees, and Episcopacy Committee Tasks on special projects as needed, so that administrative expectations are met appropriately with excellence

  • Work in partnership with the District Superintendents, local church, Conference Board of Trustee, and District Committee on Building and Location before, during, and after a closing process.

  • Facilitate processes related to the sale of properties.

Education/Experience: 

 

Previous Property Management experience 

Valid Drivers license-travel
