Position Title
Assistant Director of College Success Programs

Job Description
This position is responsible for supervising and building relationships with their team of High School College and Career Transition Counselors (CCTC) and College Success Advisors, Faculty and Staff across the division and college, and Staff at Pottawattamie Promise participating high schools. Will coordinate and track Pottawattamie Promise initiatives. In addition, will communicate the department’s vision, mission and goals.
Pottawattamie Promise/CCTC is a unique collaboration, led by Iowa West Foundation, in partnership with the Peter Kiewit Foundation and Iowa Western Community College and additional grants. Pottawattamie Promise/CCTC is based on the belief that students who receive both education and wraparound support services can and will go on to earn competitive wages in fulfilling careers and contribute to their communities.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Iowa Western’s Student Services Division fosters learning environments that engage and empower our students to grow and develop. All Student Services staff members must have the ability to excel in team and individual settings, multi-task, problem solve, manage their time, and maintain positive relationships with student, staff, and faculty while thriving in a fast pace environment
  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in student services at a post-secondary institution is required, preferably in academic advising, student development, or similar department
  • Experience that demonstrates sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of community college students
  • Ability to provide leadership, supervision, direction, support, and guidance to the advisors and high school support staff
  • Ability to pass a background check, have a valid U.S. driver’s license and good driving record

  • Ability to life up to 10lbs
  • The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone and basic office equipment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
  • Ability to drive company owned or personal vehicle

$45,000
