We are open to this resource residing in NY or CHI. Weber Shandwick is seeking a Vice President, Resource Management, to join our North American (NA) Agency Operations Team.
What We Are Seeking
We're seeking a candidate to fill a Vice President, Resource Management role to oversee Resource Management for NA Creative and Strategy Capabilities.
You will work closely with capability leads, project managers, finance, account teams and office/practice leads, as well as other members of the RM team, to gather forward-looking staffing projections for the office, enter the data (or work with PMs to ensure that it is entered) into a centralized tool, analyze forward-looking and backward-looking data. Provide strategic and proactive recommendations for resource needs across all disciplines along the way. The ideal candidate will possess a strong grasp on details associated with overall staffing & capacity management as it relates to skills, experience, capability nuances and career development for our talent here at Weber Shandwick. In addition to a geographical remit, this RM lead will also partner with capability leads to identify rotational strategies and skills mapping/assessment efforts, ensuring accounts are appropriately cast both for the business and for the career development and growth of the individuals at hand. Ideally, you're a juggler, a problem solver, and a quick, strategic thinker with a level head and excellent people skills. This important role keeps you on your toes with varying day-to-day work that is both fun and challenging.
What You Will Be Doing
- Supports Agency Operations lead and senior team members by motivating and directing junior team members, escalating issues upward as needed.
- Supports account & client ops leads to standup teams following a new win or expanded work, leading or supporting depending on level of complexity and as directed by Agency Operations/RM capability leader
- Meaningfully participates in discussions around shared best practices & consistent ways of working, carrying out implementation plans and directing more junior team members
- Ensures excellence (for self and more junior team members) in implementation of plans and consistent ways of working
- Supports in aspects of innovation and evolution strategy development, carrying out implementation plans and directing more junior team members
- Excellent listener who can quickly and accurately synthesize information and articulate necessary next steps (for self or in order to drive team), escalating to or updating more senior leads as needed
- Gathers, inputs and maintains data in the RM team tool, leading or overseeing depending on level of size & complexity of office/capability/practice
- Builds reports and data for leadership, provides subsequent analysis and insight
- Understands agency's work, offerings & talent, guides more junior team in their education and connects employees appropriately
- Contributes to materials development articulating agency's RM approach, best practices, ways of working and tools
- Runs regular staffing meetings, attended by account and PM leads; ensuring appropriate preparedness to move through agenda efficiently and with impactful results, leading or supporting depending on level of complexity
- Experience with conflict management, supporting senior leaders in driving towards objective solutions
- Can be trusted with sensitive, confidential information
- Facilitates staffing discussions toward solutions and oversees more junior team members in doing the same, escalating highly sensitive or complex issues to function leader
- Solidifies strong relationships with colleagues and is called upon to be a problem solver, escalating highly sensitive or complex issues to function leader
- Manages more junior team members and coaches diverse set of employees
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of related professional experience
- Proficient in MAC and PC, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams
- Agency, production, equivalent environment experience preferred
- Ability to manage a project from beginning to end
- Ability to manage more junior members of the RM team
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities
- A proven upbeat, enthusiastic and self-starter attitude with the ability to inspire and motivate a variety of team members
- Possess strong sense of curiosity, solution-oriented mentality and critical thinking skills as they will be central to general approach to day-to-day needs
- Willingness to travel and work outside of normal business hours as necessary
