Accounting Clerk
In recognition of the dignity and value of every human life, the mission of Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless (IPH) is to address the needs of the homeless and low-income community by providing a continuum of services to encourage self-sufficiency, empowerment, and stability. IPH operates 3 emergency shelters, a Medical Respite shelter, permanent housing, Community Connections, Healthy Connections, and the Albany Ambassadors employment initiative.
IPH is currently hiring a full time Accounting Clerk who will be responsible for overseeing our financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain IPH’s general ledger accounting system, including the preparation of monthly financial statements and journal entries
- Reconcile bank accounts accurately and in a timely manner, with attention to unusual items that remain outstanding at month end.
- Prepare monthly journal entries
- Accounts Payable – preparing documents for processing, entering invoices/credit card receipts, and processing payments
- Accounts Receivable – invoicing, deposits, collections, and revenue recognition
- Perform payroll functions in an accurate and timely manner; process 1099’s
- Record In-Kind Donations received through-out the year
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Admin or equivalent experience
- Analytical and detail-oriented skills
- Organization and ability to multi-task under many operational and regulatory deadlines.
- Flexibility: ability to work in a complex and changing organization and adapt to changes in structure and work priorities.
- Team Orientation: interest in working both independently and in groups and willingness to help team members to achieve goals.
- Efficiency: ability to make independent decisions and to work unsupervised.
- Ability to understand and implement directives.

- Proficient skills in Quickbooks and Excel
- A clean, valid NYS license
Compensation & Benefits
- Non-exempt, full-time position at $22.00-$23.00/hr.
