What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, IPT position at IQVIA?
Role Purpose:
The Associate IPT Director acts as:
- Sr. Project Manager or Program Manager, managing the PD projects portfolio, planning and controlling small/medium/large PD projects to meet business goals.
- ScrumMaster, guiding, facilitating and teaching Scrum practices to everyone involved in those projects; clearing impediments for the team; and, ensuring that Scrum processes are being followed.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Enforces organizational policies for project teams which develop business applications and information services products.
- Supports cross-functional teams in the execution of full product development life cycle development.
- Interfaces with all areas affected by the project including clients, computer services, and client services.
- Provides direction and mentoring to more junior level project managers.
- Participates in setting and enforces project direction with cross-functional teams.
- Plans and manages resource allocations within a matrix managed environment.
- Manages, and controls scope, schedule and budget for projects. Communicates project status and risks, with associated recommendations, to all stakeholders including senior management.
- Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables.
- Provides business guidance to project team.
- May have direct client contact on a daily or weekly basis.
- Guides Scrum teams and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values
- Guides Scrum teams on how to get the most out of self organization
- Facilitates daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint demo and retrospective meetings
- Assesses the Scrum Maturity of Scrum teams and organization and coaches Scrum teams to higher levels of maturity
- Removes impediments or guides Scrum teams to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment
- Shields Scrum teams from outside distractions and interferences
- Builds a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis of healing and problem solving
- Facilitates getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
- Facilitates discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
- Assists with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
- Supports and educates the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog
- Provides all support to Scrum teams using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leads by example
Minimum Education, Experience, & Specialized Knowledge Required:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years in IT project management. Advanced project management education and experience.
- First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I)
- Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least 3 years for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory
- Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
- Expert in estimation and planning
- Strong Stakeholder Management, Negotiation & Communication Skills
- JIRA/Confluence experience
- Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, FDD etc.
- Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, TDD, Continuous Integration/Deployment, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills
Additional Requirements:
- Experience with IQVIA data and services is a significant plus
