Job Description
Position: Management Trainee
Department: Operations
Location: Cumberland Mine
Reports to: (title) Mine Engineering Manager /Assigned Department Head
Position Summary
This position is responsible for learning all aspects of the mining process through departmental rotations. This position is designed to develop a strong operational background and managerial skills. The trainee will gain comprehensive underground experience while accruing sufficient time to obtain their State Assistant Mine Foreman certification.
Major Responsibilities
- Complete Phase I: 12–18-month departmental rotation.
- Complete evaluation forms for each individual rotation.
- Complete Phase II: Longwall or CM single department rotation.
- Track all underground and surface time throughout training phases.
- Attain Assistant Mine Foreman Certification
- Participate in various mine projects.
Qualifications
Experience/Background/Job Specific and/or Technical Skills Required
- BS/MS Degree in a related discipline (Mining, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, and Industrial)
- Prefer Underground Mining experience (internship/co-op)
- Innovative, highly motivated self-starter to conceive and initiate new projects through daily interaction with mine operators, peers, supervisors, and managers.
- Individual must be skilled and current in the engineering disciplines.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and maintain good working relationships with personnel at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of safety requirements in mining operations is essential.
- Excellent computer skills
