The Sr. Director, Global Hyperscale Delivery requires a self-driven leader to develop and implement strategic business plans to oversee the successful planning and execution of our hyperscale deliveries, which could be multi-megawatt data halls to complete buildings.
This senior leader is responsible for motivating and directly managing a team of Project/Program Managers globally while indirectly managing cross-functional teams to execute strategic business plans for hyperscale customers. These activities include successfully implementing services, handover of data center space/capacity, and tracking & reporting on non-recurring fees associated with customer improvements during delivery. These large, complex projects will require strong project management, communications, customer relationships, analytical skills, and knowledge of data center construction and operations. Additionally, you and your team will closely collaborate with our design & construction, account management, security, operations, data warehouse/reporting, bms, network, and legal teams to successfully deliver on time and against our contractual requirements.
This senior leader will be responsible for forming and maintaining senior-level relationships on the delivery teams of our hyperscale customers.
The position will require approximately 25-40% travel for customer meetings. The Sr. Director, Global Hyperscale Delivery, reports to the VP, Global Head of Hyperscale, Data Centers.
Responsibilities:
- Leads a globally distributed hyperscale program management team in the successful and on-time delivery of hyperscale customer installations
- Drives consistency in applying standards and adherence to IMDC process protocols.
- Responsible for collaboration with both the Hyperscale AM & Sales teams and global Design and Construction teams to understand contractual requirements/obligations for each hyperscale customer delivery.
- Leads a team that manages cross-functional requirements related to contractual requirements/obligations for each hyperscale customer delivery, including tracking each deliverable and team to ensure each item has been fulfilled for proper delivery/handoff to the customer.
- Ensures proper billing occurs for both customer fit-out non-recurring charges and monthly license fees for each customer delivery. Aligns with our finance and accounting teams to ensure proper revenue recognition.
- Manages the streamlining of information flow between customers and the organization, escalating discussions, as appropriate, to promote the business needs of the customer.
- Program Management responsibilities include oversight and delegation of project scopes and objectives, project planning documentation, communication, task resource availability management, change and risk management, project performance tracking, ensuring all team-managed projects are completed to high standards of quality, on time, within scope and budget.
- Ensure the team is managing the project schedule and monitor/update as the project progresses, including communications externally to the customer and internally to the project team and executives.
- Manage all aspects of given initiatives, from requirements gathering to implementation over the entire lifecycle.
- Ensure that the scope of the projects aligns with business priorities. Manage relationships with key stakeholders and sponsors, and escalate project risks on a timely basis for decision resolution and disposition.
- Applies company and industry program and project management best practices with agility, ensuring processes, standards, and governance plans are effective and align with the data center’s mission, culture, and strategic priorities.
- Recruits, develops, and retains a high-performing and qualified workforce to deliver the goals of the Hyperscale Program Management organization. Proactively managing performance issues.
Key Skills, Requirements and Competencies:
- This job requires a Bachelor’s degree; a Master’s degree or MBA is a plus
- 10 years of experience running complex global programs and projects, effectively leading across matrixed teams applying various methodologies and strategies
- Prior data center/technology industry experience
- Familiarity with data center design and construction
- Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale data center implementations for hyperscale customers
- Demonstrated project management skills, organization/time management skills, and the ability to meet tight deadlines
- PMP and Scrum Master certifications desired; Strong project management/process background required; 10 years of experience with a variety of methodologies (i.e., Waterfall and Agile) and proficiency in common project planning tools such as MS Project
- Global mindset; ability to influence effectively across different cultures
- Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
- Decisive, straightforward, and a team player, highly collaborative
- A track record of managing, coaching, and developing geographically disparate teams
- Travel may be required and is dependent on program needs
