Purpose Statement
The job of Host was created to provide a positive and professional experience for guests from their entry into the restaurant until they depart the restaurant.
Essential Functions
- Must work on-site and hold a current Food Handler’s Card to successfully provide back up to servers when needed.
- Effectively greet and interact with every guest and visitor to the restaurant, using both verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Effectively negotiates, seats, and manages the arrival of guests in a paced and organized manner to maximize capacity and operational efficiency.
- Effectively communicates on the telephone, including taking accurate reservation requests, as per company procedures and guidelines.
- Effectively merchandises featured menu items and specials when seating guests.
- Promptly reports all inventory needs of the area(s) responsible for to management, to assure supplies are always available.
- Effectively communicates information regarding guest requests to management.
- Assures that all guest concerns are addressed promptly through direct intervention of the manager on duty or in their absence the designated Person In Charge (PIC).
- Immediately reports any mechanical and/or facility issues to management.
- Assures bathrooms, host station and dining/seating areas are clean and stocked appropriately, as per company procedures and guidelines.
- Successfully uses all technology tools of the company per company guidelines, including but not limited to proper order entry into point of sale (POS), processing credit cards, and using the designated reservation platform.
- Assists in bussing tables, monitoring the needs of the guests and supporting the other crewmembers in the delivery of high quality, professional services.
- Effectively and accurately expedites/delivers food to guests as needed.
- Fully complies with all company policies, including but not limited to the: Attendance/Absenteeism Policy and Dress/Appearance Policy.
- Fully complies with all procedures of the company, including Steps of Service and proper Checklist usage.

- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing as per the company’s formal communication procedures.
- Successfully interact with, crewmembers, guests and managers.
- Serves as an effective team member.
- Maintains a clean uniform at all times.
- Backs up co-workers as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Environment This position is primarily conducted indoors, including in a kitchen with exposure to hot surfaces, and sharp objects, with some work also done outdoors in all types of weather conditions
- Must be at least 16 years of age and hold an approved Parent/School Authorization form if between the ages of 16 and 17 up to 18 years of age.
- The individual must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
- Must be able to walk and stand for entire shift minus break times.
- The individual must have small motor movements which are associated with cutting, pouring, reaching, holding, and grabbing objects.
- Must have a visual acuity which assures the individual can read all recipes, safety instructions and other critical information needed to perform the job.
- Must have a hearing acuity which assures the individual can hear and understand verbal instructions when equipment is operating in the kitchen, guest orders, and manager instructions.
$15.74 - $20.74 per hour (Combined hourly wage* and average tip pool potential**).
- Base pay of $15.74 per hour
