Job Description What you can expect in a typical day As an Technician Operator II, you will be an integral part of our Terminal Operations supporting the Refining & Supply Operations. You will apply your knowledge and skills to perform day-to-day activities independently, provide contractor oversight through area inspections and ensuring contractor safety through LOTO, Gas Detection and issuing work permits.  What we offer: Competitive salary, bonus, and pension plan Flexible benefits, including a Health Spending Account Wellness support, including annual wellness allowance and paid personal care days Paid vacation and vacation purchasing Personal and professional development opportunities Named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for six consecutive years Your roles and responsibilities: Maintain and demonstrate a good understanding of the Terminal systems, equipment and operating procedures. Recognizes potential energy sources and applies LOTO to ensure a system is removed from service and can be safely worked on or is safely secured. Issues Work Permits and supports contractor safety through area inspections and ensuring Irving Oil processes and standards are followed. Conducts Gas Detection ensuring atmospheric conditions are safe. Receives product by gauging tanks, reconciling inventory, and ensuring equipment is properly assembled as a means of maintaining inventory and protecting the company from environmental emergencies. Ensures a high quality of Irving Oil products through quality control including sampling and testing incoming product and inventory supply. Performs preventative maintenance through the completion of regular checklists and operating procedures on equipment to ensure maximum utilization and longer life span. Shares knowledge learned, hazards recognized and assists with the development of junior operators. Performs other duties as required for excellent productivity. Assists Drivers as required and provides excellent customer service. Professional skills Together, we will support our corporate strategy, high standards and the communities where we live and work. Community College or technical training is an asset. 2 years experience in the oil and gas industry required. Additional relevant and applicable experience or secondary schooling is a strong asset.
