What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Assistant position at Isaacs & Isaacs PSC?
$42,500 Bonus
Responsibilities:- Aid lawyers in trial preparation by preparing and organizing exhibits, organizing and coordinating witnesses, conducting research on legal articles, and assisting with client meetings and filing motions
- Gather information about legal issues from the client in interviews
- Prepare legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings such as complaints, interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits, under the supervision of a lawyer
- Organize our case filing systems to ensure all documents are properly sorted and easy to locate, and other administrative duties as needed
- Arrange law office activity such as drafting subpoenas and coordinating with process servers
- Entering new files in Case Management System (CMS)
- Gather and analyze intake information and relevant documents. Enter pertinent information into client files such as MVA details, insurance, property damage and medical providers
- Fully investigate each case and document findings in CMS
- Maintain contact with clients on regular basis
- Verify all potential insurance coverage and maintain contact with all insurance carriers
- Manage medical care of clients including requesting/obtaining all medical documentation
- Explain MVA claim procedures to clients
- Prepare documents and correspondence such as demand letters, billing inquiries, etc
- Manage and process all correspondence to and from clients, insurance carriers, medical providers, etc. Including demand and mediation packages, IME’s and claim status updates to clients, insurance carriers and lien holders/medical providers
- Relay settlement negotiation from attorney to clients and adjusters utilizing demands/offers in client file
- Collect documentation of all damages sustained such as medical records, bills, subrogation liens, loss of income and property damage
- Organize and maintain case files
- Diary files using case reminders in CMS so as to work each file at least every 2-3 weeks
- Must have great time-management skills, and organizational skills
- Talented communicator and writer
- At least 3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting
- Candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have advanced paralegal education will receive preference
- ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree desired
- Must have the strong work ethic and be able to work well in a fast paces environment
- Must have great people skills as the position requires a great deal of client contact
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Must be able to prioritize work and work under pressure
- Must be well organized and detail oriented
- Must be familiar with relevant laws as it applies to personal injury claims, motor vehicle accidents and insurance
- Must have exceptional communication and written skills
- Must have computer skills including knowledge of Word and Excel software and Microsoft Outlook
- Knowledge of medical terms and traumatically induced conditions is helpful
- Knowledge of insurance coverage types and policies is helpful
