Shift Hours:
Overnights every other Friday and Saturday.

Must have Experience:
We are currently seeking Direct Support Professionals to provide direct supervision and training to individuals with intellectual disabilities in a Residential Group Home setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing direct Monitoring Support and Supervision, assisting with Activities of Daily Living, facilitating various Recreational, Leisurely, and Semi-Educational activities, supporting individuals on Community Outings, and maintaining daily Progress Note documentation.
We are located in Richmond, VA with a second location coming soon.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide Direct supervision and implementation of Individualized Service Plan (ISP) goals for a group of individuals with Intellectual Disabilities
- Work effectively with a diverse group of individuals, including those with mental health diagnoses, behavioral challenges, physical limitations, and other complex needs
- Provide training and assistance to participants in activities of daily living, such as grooming, bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting
- Ensure the well-being of program participants by following prescribed safety protocols, providing medication administration, and educating them on basic safety skills
- Plan and facilitate engaging and meaningful activities for participants, both on-site and in the community
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of participant progress and activities, following agency policies and procedures
- Provide transportation and supervision during activities and other outings in the community
- Foster a safe, respectful, and positive environment for participants to thrive in
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIRED
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities is a must
- A high school diploma or GED is required
- Strong verbal and written communication is a must
- Experience writing therapeutic daily notes and documentation preferred
- Medication Management Certification is preferred
- CPR and First Aid certification is required*
- Experience with challenging behaviors and de-escalation is preferred. TOVA Behavior Management Training is required*
- Must have a valid Virginia driver's license and a driving record in good standing
- Must be deemed eligible for employment based on the outcome of both an FBI criminal background investigation check and a Central Registry Check
- Existing Certifications and Training are preferred; however, Isaiah Peace may provide opportunities for required training upon hire

Qualifications for a Direct Support Professional:
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Knowledge of basic human physical and psychological needs
- Knowledge and passionate use of person-centered approach
- Knowledge of health and safety precautions
- Demonstrated leadership ability, emotional maturity, and patience
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient typing and computer skills
- Demonstrated flexibility and reliability
- Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Required training: TOVA, First Aid/CPR/AED, 32 hour Medical Administration
Qualifications and Expectations:
- Valid Virginia driver’s license
Physical Requirements:
- May require driving up to 8 hours
- May require frequent bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and walking
- May require standing up for up to 8 hours
- May require lifting at times, up to 25 pounds
