What are the responsibilities and job description for the Truck Driver 1 position at Island County?
Drive/operate ten (10) yard dump truck with trailer and other County equipment to facilitate the construction, repair, rebuilding and all related maintenance of roadways.

- Operation of heavy dump trucks, pup trailers, low-boys, tilt trailers and tankers for repair, maintenance and construction of roadways.
- Perform preventative maintenance and servicing of assigned equipment to ensure safe, operational status.
- Ensure a safe work environment for maintenance crews and the general public.
- Ability to service and perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation.
- Ability to recognize hazards and safety problems.
- Knowledge of laws, regulations and requirements related to the trucking industry to ensure safety of employees and the general public.
- Knowledge of modern practices, methods and materials used in maintenance, repair and construction of roadways.
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with other employees.
- Ability to communicate, understand and carry out oral and written instruction.
- Ability safely drive truck/trailer combinations on narrow roadways, with no shoulders in all traffic situations.
- Ability to successfully complete required training courses.
- Valid Washington State Combination Drivers License.
- Flagger Certification.
- State Pesticide License (Possible requirement).
- Experience related to the trucking and hauling industry.
