The Island Institute, Maine’s advocate for coastal communities, has an exciting opportunity for a Major Gifts Officer focused on an existing portfolio of donors from the Mount Desert Island and Blue Hill regions.
The Island Institute is a non-profit organization, that works alongside Maine’s island and coastal leaders to build community sustainability in island and coastal communities and share solutions for addressing our coast’s most critical issues.
The Major Gifts Officer (MGO), reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer, will be passionate about the mission of the Island Institute and contributes to the organization by growing philanthropic revenue from individual donors and family foundations. The MGO works as an integral member of the Philanthropy team, meeting both individual and team fundraising goals through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of individual donors with the capacity to make five- to seven-figure gifts, towards the attainment of the organization’s annual and long-range fundraising goals. In addition, the MGO plays a critical role in organizing and extending the volunteer board fundraising activities of those who are committed to the organization.
This position can be a hybrid work schedule based in your home office and will need to work out of the Rockland, Maine office once a week.
