Schedule: 7a-4p Monday-Friday (Ability to work flexible hours to support deliveries required)
The Role
The Production Expeditor is responsible for implementing solutions and process improvements for shipment and supplier issues to ensure on-time delivery. Under the guidance of the Materials Manager and the Production Planner, the Production Expediter helps coordinate efficient workflow into and out of production/quality processes to ensure adherence to deadlines. Core responsibilities center on understanding production schedules and monitoring production jobs, and reporting daily on job status to ensure all critical priorities are followed and customer commitments are met. The position requires strong partnerships with the Production, Planning, Purchasing, Inventory, Engineering, and Shipping Departments, and extraordinary attention to detail. Expeditors are organized troubleshooters committed to keeping everything on track.
Top Responsibilities
- Works together with Production Planning to maintain production workflow.
- Maintains constant floor presence to keep tabs on job movement.
- Accurately tracks all orders to ensure on-time delivery and production efficiency.
- Frequently required to identify the location and status of products.
- Identifies bottlenecks and works with Production Planning, Purchasing, Warehouse, Engineering, and Project Management to resolve those bottlenecks.
- Maintains work center priorities by physically re-organizing job queues, changing job packet due dates, and/or communicating changing priorities with Team Leaders, Shipping, Quality, and Receiving personnel.
- Collaborates with Production Supervisors for updates on delivery timelines.
- May deliver floor stock materials or jobs to the production floor.
- Records issues on GEMBA and Accountability Boards.
- Immediately escalates serious issues to Production, Planning, and Program Management.
- Offers value-added input and improves processes and procedures on going
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- 5 years of experience with MRP/ERP systems (SAP)
- Competent with computer operating systems.
- Excellent coaching and communication skills
- Basic knowledge of production planning and manufacturing processes
- Strategic planning skills
- Able to deal with complex issues in a fast-paced setting
- Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background report
