We are currently searching for a Governance & Controls Manager, located in Greensboro, NC.
Job Summary:
Responsible for the execution of managing risks proactively and pragmatically by promoting an effective control environment through risk identification/assessment, risk management, and internal control activities.
The core responsibility is to implement and maintain a robust control framework, applying the Global Controls Matrix as a basis but adapting this to the US organization’s unique model and environment.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Implements and maintains a robust governance and controls framework to ensure risks are appropriately managed, taking into account business strategy as well as changes in the operating model, technology and the external environment. Design and implement policies, processes and other value adding improvements where required.
- Develops and executes plans to assess compliance with the Group Controls Matrix (GCM) as well as local (legal) requirements. Responsible for routine testing of controls and reporting to the Group Internal Control CoE.
- Challenge and support management’s continuous assessment of existing and emerging risks, through a strong understanding of the business, key processes and control environment. Coordinates the periodic risk assessment process, including any reporting.
- Keeps up to date knowledge of Company policies, standards, and requirements and ensures that, where appropriate/required, the US organization is aligned. This will require building effective relationships with the Group’s “second line of defense” units and the Group Internal Control CoE
- Coordinator internal and external audits. Advises management on and drive the implementation of audit actions and associated improvement activity, including regular progress reports.
- Acts as a local subject matter expert on governance, internal control, and risk management. Supports Management on a range of topics to include, but is not limited to, Business Continuity and Crisis Management planning, IT General Controls, Code of Conduct, Approvals Matrix and Financial Controls.
- Performs or facilitates key verification controls in the areas of user access to key applications, business continuity testing and master data changes.
- Other ad hoc projects toward business improvement
- Management of routine testing and reporting, as well devising continuous improvements in processes and controls.
- Key coordinator for internal audits and follow-ups
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma / GED and 9 years related work experience OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study and 5 years related work experience
Work experience to include, but is not limited to:
- Internal audit, risk management and/or business improvement
- Financial accounting or assurance
- Influencing, engagement and communications at all organizational levels up to senior management
Knowledge of:
- Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams

Preferred Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- 3 years supervisory/managerial experience
- Experience to include, but is not limited to:
- ‘Big 4’ accountancy firm experience
- Change management
- Working with a Shared Service model
- License / Certification(s):
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Professional certification in risk, internal control or audit
Knowledge of:
- SAP software
