Aircraft Director of Maintenance
The Aircraft Director of Maintenance will lead aircraft maintenance for Colorado’s most prestigious FAA approved 145 Repair Station encompassing major repairs, alterations, maintenance, composites and avionics. Direct and lead a staff of 20-30 including Managers, Leads, Aircraft Mechanics, A&P Mechanics, Avionics specialists, Structures technicians, sheet metal and composite shop, powerplant maintenance teams. With over a combined 75,000 ft.² of production space, Straight Flight brings aviation clients new and innovative ways of exceeding the limits of expectations. Direct Aircraft Maintenance operations for an array of corporate jets and turbo props including Learjet, Cessna, Beech, Bombardier, Gulfstream, Dassault, Textron, Embraer, BAE, Hawker, Dornier, Twin Otter, Saab, King Air, Viking Air, Sherpa, and Yabora. Work with all major insurance companies performing accident investigations and comprehensive evaluations that fall within and outside the continental United States. FAR compliance working with the Flight Standards District Office and Aircraft Certification Offices for supplemental type certificates, field approvals for major repairs and alterations to type certificated aircraft, experimental or public use operators.
- Aircraft Director of Maintenance is responsible for full time supervision of activities related to the FAA Part 145 repair station as well as organization and control of general aircraft maintenance paperwork.
- Responsible for performance of multiple maintenance teams who deliver mission ready aircraft in compliance with all goals, SLAs, laws & regulations.
- Lead expert staff in delivering the best value possible in maintaining aircraft combining extensive maintenance and repair experience with production type certificate holder solutions, materials, and technical support.
- Ensure customers can expect the most effective and reliable outcomes for their aircraft since we have seen almost everything you can imagine.
- Drive company growth by leading by example, holding a high bar for excellence across all teams, facilitating training for the team, increasing shop productivity, and building strong relationships with customers and vendors.
- The development and oversight of schedules for commuter class aircraft maintenance requires an in-depth knowledge of all systems found in this class of aircraft.
- Responsible for tracking of all open, closed, and “in-process” projects and tasks – both routine and non-routine – with final release paperwork generation.
- Must understand and effectively apply FAR Part 91, 135, 121, 145 regulations when needed coupled with coordination efforts with Chief Inspector.
- Employee must be proficient in all aircraft manufacturer’s support manuals to allow complete research into inspection packages. Employee is responsible for determining corrective action(s) and reporting the status of regulatory compliance for companies FAA Part 145 & EASA Part 145 certifications.
- This is not a desk job and requires mobility on and around an aircraft in maintenance status.
- Must be capable, comfortable, and enjoy working with computers O365/MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio. Gantt charting desired. Pentagon 2000 ERP preferred.
Applicant Requirements:
- Technical License (FAA Certification) – A&P / IA Required (Bachelor Degree desired)
- Minimum 12 yrs hands-on aircraft maintenance experience. Aviation structures, modification preferred.
- Minimum of 12 years practical experience with FAA regulatory paperwork
- Proven experience managing, leading Aircraft Maintenance teams; Managers, Leads, A&P mechanics.
- Demonstrated experience in running an aircraft maintenance facility is preferred
- Experience in maintenance airframe (metal / composites), avionics, propeller, engine (jet, turbine, turboprop) systems required to understand complete maintenance packages
- Understanding of aircraft manufacturers Maintenance Manuals, Illustrated Parts Catalogs, Structural Repair Manuals, Service Bulletins is a must
- Must understand FAA Airworthiness Directives and FAA Form 337
- Demonstrated knowledge of FAA Part 145 requirements including EASA regulations

- Ability to travel, including foreign travel, while expected to be minimal, may be required
Salary & Benefits
- 4 – day work week, Tuesday through Friday, (minimum 44 hours a week)
- Salary range – $80-120K depending on experience
