What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hardware Design Engineer position at Itron Careers?

The role:
(Contractor role, for a 12 months contract, to support an activity increase)
You are responsible for the design, prototyping and testing of electrical/electronic control and monitoring products. Once designed, they are manufactured by an outsourced Manufacturing partner; you will be working closely with the manufacturing support team through the product lifecycle to maintain and improve product cost and quality.
Hardware design: Evaluation, design and test of electrical/electronic control and monitoring PCBA’s with emphasis on, Mains AC/DC Power Supply, AC Mains Monitoring/Metering/Switching/Control.
- With the help of a local technician, you source and build hardware prototypes and conduct testing in R&D lab.
- You will work closely with Product Firmware, Mechanical Design and Manufacturing Engineers to deliver cost and quality optimized products.
- You sustain existing products as you own the design from prototype thru to volume production. Part of a larger global team, , you will collaborate closely with both internal & external stakeholders.
- You ensure continuous improvement on your products by providing root cause analysis of customers returns and identifying cost and manufacturing improvements.
- You are responsible for developing and implementing cost savings initiatives within your scope.

About you:
- You have a proven track record of design and manufacturing support of electrical/electronic PCBA’s, and have a strong interest in Industrial IoT.
- You demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Product Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Compliance Requirements.
- You have previous experience working closely with manufacturing teams to implement DFM/DFT and to provide manufacturing test requirements.
- You have experience of microcontroller (STM32 desirable) and Industrial IOT sensor evaluation and design;
- You are an excellent communicator, able to collaborate with local/global team members and to generate clear test plans and reports;
- Seasoned professional, you are able to work autonomously.
