We are looking for an experienced help desk professional wanting to grow by learning infrastructure technologies. This person would partner with the current IT staff to assist users with issues while learning how the company operates. Their ideas and insights would be integrated into the overall development plan of the infrastructure and services managed by the department. The applicant would be expected to desire advancement in position through the regular demonstration of acquired skills. The technical environment of ITW Powertrain Plastics and ITW Medical provides ample opportunity to learn IT skills related to manufacturing, regulatory, and how they apply to our proprietary business practices.

This position supports the Information System assets, networks, and infrastructure owned by ITW Powertrain Plastics and ITW Medical. Together these autonomous business units operate five locations in the United States, four in Mexico, and one in Ireland. The Information Technology Technician (IT Tech) will be expected to assist in the administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the interconnected services and resources utilized by the users in each location. Due to the nature of how the businesses operate, the ability to effectively triage issues with a sense of urgency is expected. Organizational and time management skills should be evident in past work history. The IT Tech should be able to communicate effectively in English with the ability to relay IT concepts to users cogently. Due to the scope of the position, subject matter expert level knowledge is not expected for all topics.

The IT Tech is expected to assist the Information Systems Department with monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting:

• Administrator for NETWORK LAN/WAN, duties include:
  • Maintaining network servers including but not limited to File, Print, Fax, SQL and ERP servers.
  • Support for Meraki SD Wan
  • Maintaining VM Ware.
  • Maintaining remote access capabilities; examples are VPN/RDP/ConnectWise Control.
  • Participate in network hardware maintenance and upgrades including servers, switches, cabling, routers, firewalls, access points, etc.
  • Installing and upgrading PC’s and Printers.
  • Interface and support for Cloud services such as SharePoint and OneDrive
• Systems Backup Procedures on network servers.
  • Routine monitoring of backup systems to ensure accuracy and completeness of backup processes.
  • Testing of recovery from backups
• ITW Policy/Guidelines Conformance
  • Verify we comply with ITW policies as they relate to Information Systems Including but not limited to:
    • IT General Controls Guidelines
    • IT Policy General Computer Controls
  • Information Security Standards
• Troubleshoot Hardware problems in the following areas:
  • PC’s
  • Printers, including bar coding equipment
  • Scanners
  • Communication equipment
• Under the direction of the IT Manager purchasing functions to include:
  • Configuring, ordering PC’s and printers.
  • Assurance that all hardware and software purchases are compatible with network configurations.
  • Assisting in Vendor selection for PC hardware and accessories.
  • PC accessories including backup media, printers, scanners, etc.
  • Assist in software selection including network software for backups, utilities, and communications packages.
• End-User support:
  • Assist users in software problem resolution
  • Windows operating systems
  • MS Office Version upgrades.
  • Network access, including mapping drives and sharing capabilities.
  • Assist users in hardware problem resolution.
  • PC’s and accessories.
  • Printers
• Hardware and Software Inventories
  • Maintaining and updating inventory database of PC configurations and software versions.
  • Monitoring and tracking software media, including licenses.

Education:

• Associates degree or equivalent experience.

Essential Skills and Abilities:
