Job Description
Reporting to the Technical Engineering Manager, the Electrical Engineer is responsible for supporting and sustaining existing food equipment products in the ITW Food Equipment Group portfolio. They will also support the development of new product offerings for the Hobart Service business.
This position will assist with the selection and validation of alternate suppliers, materials, and electro-mechanical components to improve equipment reliability and to deliver consistent up time for our customers. The successful individual will work closely with the Product Support Team, Project Leaders and Product Managers to create and deliver tools and processes to improve customer’s equipment experience and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Works closely with the Product Support Team, Project Leaders, and Product Managers to create and deliver tools and processes to improve our customers’ equipment experience and quality.
- Leads the qualification of alternate vendors, material, and components to support the OEM parts strategy.
- Develops and implements engineering change management processes including drawings updates, approval routing, and release for production.
- Supports Product Lifecycle Management methodologies including product launch, technology maturity, supply chain abatements, and product end-of-life planning.
- Leads projects to ensure the Hobart Service organization is prepared to support new product launches through proprietary training programs, service manuals, parts catalogues, and critical parts supply.
- Coordinates quality activities to improve product performance and field technician efficiency by utilizing industry standard processes including Root Cause Analysis, 8D problem solving, and APQP.
- Develops preventative maintenance programs including concept generation, validation, and field roll-out by leveraging FMEA, MTBF, and design specifications.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or similar)
- 3-5 years of demonstrated experience with equipment design and component selection including the application of motors, pumps, transformers, relays, switches, and other controls.
- Strong change management, analytical, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience providing engineering support to ensure products meet organization and industry standards.
- 3D CAD design and bill of material development using Creo, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with machine design and manufacturing in food, beverage and/or consumer products industries.
- Experience with controls, IoT and connectivity.
- Project management experience with cross-functional, global teams.
