Job Description
Summary:
The Quality Engineer is responsible to proactively drive supplier quality assurance/control through initial supplier qualification and for maintaining quality standards for manufacturing finished product. The Quality Engineer will support quality to ITW Global Brand’s automotive aftermarket business to include wiper blades, and automotive performance and appearance products. The Quality Engineering will leverage internal and external resources and technology to develop and deliver quality solutions while meeting customer expectations and company goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and analyzes quality related data on monthly basis to report out standards and implement proposed quality and reliability expectancy of products.
- Perform product quality testing using various laboratory instruments.
- Investigates and responds to customer complaints regarding quality and puts action plan in place to correct the defects.
- Conducts root cause analysis and troubleshooting exercises as needed and resolves issues through internal and external stakeholders. Coordinates supplier corrective actions to ensure quality specifications are met.
- Manages Document Control of manufacturing and Quality documents, including distribution, removal of obsolete forms and work instructions.
- Assists R&D and Process Engineering in process tasks related to new product development manufacturing.
- Validate supplier approval process (e.g., vendors, raw material suppliers, consultants) to ensure meeting ITW quality requirements.
- Works safely, following all OSHA and company regulations and procedures.
Qualifications
- BS in Chemistry required or relative field of study.
- Minimum of 3-7 years’ experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment using tools such as 80/20 and Quality Management System to improve quality and productivity.
- Creative, highly organized, self-starter able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, adapt well to changing schedules and prioritize multiple projects in a team environment.
- Experience working with vendors, business partners and manufacturing operations.
- Familiar with Fresh Desk, Spec Right, and Project experience a plus.
- Travel approximately 20% - 30%.
