Job Description
This position will support all facets of quality engineering and supplier development. This person will be responsible for designing a quality system and implementing in the plants. This includes investigating, analysis and quality problems resolution, identifying trends, conducting audits, and leading continuous improvement projects with our manufacturing teams and our supply base.
- Develop process quality controls and associated forms to ensure world class out-going quality levels.
- Develop process flow chart for raw material receiving & issue to manufacturing. Identify areas of product quality verification.
- Develop process flow charts for each manufacturing process. Identify areas of product quality verification.
- Audit inventory receiving and disposition to warehouse or shipping. Identify areas of product quality verification.
- Review existing Quality Assurance documents – ensure alignment to ISO 9001 requirements – without seeking certification. Develop alignment with VP/GM & Operations Director on appropriate levels of controls.
- Prioritize systemic improvements to SOP’s and implement as appropriate.
- Train and implement core quality tools at our manufacturing plants, cross-functionally and at all levels.
- Train and implement standard processes for RCCA, 5-Why, Process Development
- Train the Trainer for key manufacturing employees on robust 8D completion and customer communication.
- Partner with Engineering to develop educational tools for the JTBD of the manufactured product. Educate all staff on product criticality and potential failure modes. Create training materials for future use.
- Partner with Operations to implement visual customer facing metrics and make recommendations for improvement.
- Work with manufacturing team to trend historical quality metrics. Pareto ‘80 failure modes and escape methods.
- Partner to educate manufacturing employees on CFM’s and their criticality to Alpine business continuity. Create methodology for floor personnel to recommend suggestions and enhancements to systems.
- Create highly visible methods for sharing quality metrics – celebrate wins and engage the team cross-functionally in spills that impact the customer.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent required; minimum 3 years of experience in high volume manufacturing environment in a quality capacity.
- Prior experience in creating/implementing a quality system from scratch.
- Demonstrated capacity in generating Quality reports based on Statistical data analysis.
- Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO9001) requirements.
- Oral and written communication and organizational skills.
- Strong mathematical aptitudes and advanced skills in MS Excel and Document control software.
- Demonstrated ability to implement/use SPC software is a plus.
Additional Information
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this position, within typical office working conditions. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, climate variances and moving mechanical equipment typically found in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment (office) is usually low, but much higher when exposed to the manufacturing areas. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk, hear, reach with hands and arms and regularly required to walk.
