What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Product Engineer position at ITW?
Provide technical service and engineering support to our epoxy & urethane chemistries for various industries and applications. Coordinate and perform material application evaluations, interpretation, customer and field technical support and project management with appropriate lab personnel and other departments. This role is for a hands-on technologist, developing applications, delivering new products and value solutions that meet the technical needs of our industrial customers.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide industry leadership and technical support to internal and external customers:
- Provide virtual and on-site technical support at customer facilities, which include performing audits, training, running trials, and troubleshooting issues for Epoxy and Urethane coating products
- Troubleshoot and solve customer product and process-related problems by optimization of material application processes and on-site audits
- Ensures that new and existing products can be successfully employed by the customers in a manner that brings clear and identifiable value to complex issues, process development and material characterization
- Solves technology-specific fundamental problems associated with the product lines and/or product classes by novel approaches to application process development, Training, troubleshooting, and material characterization
- Drive Engineering resources to support the growth of ITW Performance Polymers globally through cross-regional communication and collaboration
- Contributes to the new product development process by working closely with customers, product marketing, technical and sales functions
- Exercises strong scientific judgment, analysis, root cause identification, and robust solution implementation to conduct all work in a safe manner including the adherence to site safety practices
- Help identify Industry trends, use ITW tools to continually introduce best practices to optimize the department, and help identify new business development trends.
- Promote, support, and adhere to all safety, environmental and quality-related policies, and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, or other related fields, with experience working in an industrial or chemical environment
- Demonstrated knowledge & experience in Epoxy or Urethane technologies with a knowledge of materials and ability to identify new innovations.
- Actively appreciates, fosters and includes the diverse capabilities, insights, and ideas of others and working effectively and respectfully with individuals of diverse backgrounds, styles, abilities, and motivation
- Strong ownership and accountability with customer-oriented mindset
- Excellent communication, oral and written, and presentation skills collaborating with colleagues and customers.
- Strong project management skills to drive projects to completion with a high degree of quality and consistency in a dynamic environment
- Strong analytical thinking and proven problem-solving skills
- Travel within/outside of the United States is required (up to 25-30% Travel time)
