What we are looking for

This position is for the Director of our after-school program at the British International School of Washington, D.C.. The Director will be required to be on-site for about 4.0 hours each day during weekdays and manage the staff and program logistics. The director will also be the point of contact for parents.

We are looking for someone who can confidently lead our team of instructors to build a positive learning environment for students ages 2-12. You will oversee the coordination of education programs that comply with local and federal regulations, ensure that facilities are maintained, manage and support all staff, communicate proactively with parents, assist with possible incidents, and manage the online registration system.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe, happy, and stimulating environment for children.
  • Manage and coordinate curricula, activities, and games with staff.
  • Ensure that the center’s facilities are safe for children and comply with laws and regulations.
  • Evaluate and purchase materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Manage and support teaching staff and promote their professional development.
  • Interview, hire, and train new staff members, ensuring they meet all Ivy Camps USA policies and legal requirements for Washington, D.C.
  • Communicate proactively with parents about student performance, learning, and any possible incidents.
  • Manage and oversee the digital system that runs the after-school program.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education (including early childhood development, early childhood education, elementary education or early special education) or a bachelor’s degree in any subject area with at least 15 semester credit hours in early childhood education
  • Posses current CPR/First-Aid/AED Adult/Pediatric certification OR willing to acquire certification within 14 days of hire
  • Ability to work in a self-directed capacity, must be proactive, creative, take ownership and have a strong work ethic
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills, with the ability to work quickly and strategically
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong digital literacy and ability to manage digital systems
  • Excellent team-player
  • Friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic at all times.
