Shipping Supervisor

Oversee the Shipping shift and manage nightly operations of the Shipping warehouse. This includes safety, customer service, production, employee relations, and meeting AIB Standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Manage the order selectors, forklift operators, and loaders to ensure proper and accurate flow of all outbound product.
• Oversee replenishment and minimize product damage.
• Supervise proper loading of trucks, proper stop sequence, and load security.
• Oversee proper review of shorts/mark-outs and make corrections if necessary.
• Monitor attendance, timeclock, and approve PTO time.
• Discipline/counsel employees as necessary.
• Regular review of performance goals with all associates.
• Conduct “Weekly Selector Observations” of new employees to provide feedback.
• Active Member of IWC Safety Committee – conduct monthly audits, attend Safety Meetings, ensure MHE and facility meet all required safety standards.
• Promote safety and report safety issues or incidents on assigned shift. Conduct regular safety meetings with all hourly associates emphasizing relevant topics.
• Must work with upper management and HR to resolve issues. Must work with all warehouse leadership periodically on issues concerning warehouse operations to improve customer service and productivity.
• Proper lifting techniques must be used to prevent injuries. Awareness of mobile warehouse equipment must be constant.
• Must be able to communicate and work well with other employees at IWC.
• Must be able to read and comprehend all work instructions.
• Being at work every day and coming to work on time is required.
• Manage security of the building and product integrity.
• Ensure superior sanitation and safety compliance throughout the distribution center
• Comply with all USDA, OSHA, and other government regulations.
• Ensures the IWC Facility is cleaned to AIB Requirements.
• Provide training to all warehouse associates in order for them to do their job safely and efficiently.
• Ensure WMS utilization and compliance. Knowledge of PC and AS400 systems.
• Ensure that there are no late routes.
• Other duties as assigned.

NECESSARY SKILLS

• Able to manage 50 employees.
• Able to multitask.
• Able to solve problems and communicate well with employees as well as all levels of management.
• Knowledge of all products and warehouse operations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team of hourly employees assigned to Shipping shift.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school graduate or GED. Two to five years warehouse supervisory experience, preferably in food distribution. Knowledge of governmental compliance regulations (OSHA, USDA, HAACP, etc.)

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Exposed to varying warehouse temperatures in dry, cooler and freezer areas. Working area will vary throughout shift in warehouse. Be able to lift up to 25 – 50 lbs. occasionally. Proper lifting techniques must be utilized. Constant awareness of moving warehouse equipment. Must be aware of unsafe areas in refrigeration and freezer units.
