Position Summary
The Safety Manager position is responsible for developing and implementing health and safety plans, enforcing policies, and evaluating practices and facilities to ensure compliance with legal guidelines. Assists management and supervisors in investigating accidents and developing measures to prevent recurrences.
Essential Functions
Training & Education:
Compensation is based on level of experience, including education, years of experience compared to requirement and food manufacturing industry experience. The range provided is a guideline and does not mean that all candidates or current employees will qualify for the high end of the range.
Compensation Rage: $65,000 to $85,000 – Base compensation negotiable compared to relevant experience.

Essential Functions
Training & Education:
- Conducts new hire safety orientation, compliance-based job-specific safety training, periodically audits training success, and provides feedback on the departmental delivery of the training.
- Supports departmental safety meetings and pre-shift meetings by providing safety topics for discussion.
- Makes safety “visible” in the workplace through various postings, safety messages, campaigns, and other strategies.
- Facilitates an effective safety committee through the identification, development, and sharing of injury trend analysis and key performance indicators to drive ownership with the direct-line operations management team, their direct reports, and all employees.
- Champions employee involvement through the creation and support of “Employee Involvement Teams” for safety improvement opportunities including training, inspections, accident investigations, ergonomics, emergency preparedness, and safety activities/promotion teams.
- Performs various inspections (hazard recognition) related to general industry and food manufacturing to continuously improve workplace conditions and behaviors.
- Coordinates/facilitates pre-use inspection process (i.e., hoists, ladders, fall protection). Completes all inspections and safety manuals on equipment used in the facility.
- Develops and shares hazard recognition techniques with others to develop a team approach for the onsite inspection process that covers the numerous legal audits and inspections required in a manufacturing operation.
- Implements and maintains compliance-based safety policies and programs to ensure that the facility meets and/or exceeds federal and state OSHA regulations.
- Reviews proposed plant layout modifications and directs management of change efforts to eliminate and/or control safety design hazards.
- Completes required governmental reporting and maintains required recordkeeping.
- Partners with the Engineering/Maintenance staff in managing and strengthening the facility’s Process Safety Management programs.

Requirements:
Must meet all position requirements in order to be considered for the position.
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management or a similar field, OR a minimum of 5 years of equivalent work experience (Safety role).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience at a supervisor or management level, in a professional safety/EHS position – primarily within manufacturing. Food manufacturing experience as Safety Manger or Specialist highly preferred.
- Experience as an influential leader, someone who is comfortable dealing with any and all authorities for safety inspections or audits.
- Must have OSHA -10 and OSHA – 30 certification (must provide proof of completion).
- Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Must be able to work under pressure and thrive in a constantly changing environment.
- Leadership Skills –demonstrate good leadership skills; provide support to the management team; able to effectively lead a cross-functional group.
- Initiative — ability to work independently; ensure responsive timely follow-up; meeting of deadlines; demonstrate a sense of urgency; ability to prioritize; organizational skills.

- Maintain regular, consistent attendance & punctuality. Must have a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
