What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wood Finisher position at J. Aaron LLC?
J. Aaron is a small custom shop with 5-6 people working in the production area at any given time. We try hard to make it a good and pleasant place to work where everyone tries to do their best and all chip in where needed. Everything we do is on the high end side of things so quality and attention to details are very important.
We are looking to hire a skilled wood finisher with 2 years experience preferred working with pre-cat lacquers, wipe one stains, post-cat varnish, etc. We have a nice positive pressure heated spray booth to work in.
We make both custom cabinets and custom wood countertops, both of which need finish applied. The right person for the job would be a good team player willing and able to help in all areas of production with a focus on the finish department, have an eye for the details, and a proud craftsperson with desire to make quality products.
We offer seven paid holidays, five days paid sick leave, and ten days of paid vacation along with up to $50 per month toward an Aflac insurance policy for you and your family. All PTO including vacation, sick and holiday starts after a 90 day trial period. Vacation pay is earned at a rate of .83 days off per month for a total of 10 days per year.
Wood Finisher Responsibilities:
- Applying a multitude of finishes including lacquers, varnishes, hand rubbed oils, primers, stains, etc.
- Sanding and smoothing items in preparation for finishing.
- Inspecting the products and completing job reports.
- Keeping your work area and equipment clean and tidy.
- Maintaining finish material inventory.
- Making and recording custom color samples for customer approvals.
- Helping with improving the processes and systems so we're always making better products more enjoyably with better value for the customer.
- Helping in any and all other areas of the shop when needed.
Wood Finisher Requirements:
- Drivers license.
- Two years experience is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail.
- In-depth knowledge of staining and finishing techniques.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience with hand and power tools.
- Must be a team player.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
