The Electrical Data Center Estimator position is responsible for bid proposal packages and cost estimates for proposals. The ideal candidate must possess a thorough understanding of the electrical construction process. In addition, the qualified candidate will be proficient in reading and interpreting commercial construction bid documents.
Essential Functions

- Ensures timely completion of all bids while maintaining high standards of quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Completes the handling of all aspects of the bid process from analyzing, to organization, and clarification of bid documents (plans, specs, RFP, Bid forms, technical proposals, etc.) to preparation of a written proposal.
- Performs quantity surveys in a format that allows application of production rates to determine labor costs, estimated material costs and equipment costs.
- Performs take-offs from drawings; pricing change orders and conducting site visits to understand the constructability of projects.
- Performs the implementation of plans and specifications to identify the types and grades of materials and equipment needed and to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Understands and applies cost fundamentals, maintaining current, accurate information on prices from suppliers and contractors.
- Completes Bill of Materials (B.O.M) and obtaining Request for Pricing (RFP) from subcontractors and vendors
- Under the direction of the Chief Estimator provides complete electrical cost estimates for construction projects.
- Gathers and compiles data for use in bid proposal estimates, analyzing bid documents, determining the project's scope, and evaluating special conditions affecting the bid proposal.
- Calculates various statistical information related to quantity take-offs, creates material lists, solicits material quotations, and figuring labor costs.
- Evaluates Sub-contractor bids and determining personnel and equipment needs.
- Determines the project’s scope and evaluates special conditions affecting the bid proposal.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Sometimes, the work will require visits to construction work sites where employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. Work boots and Safety PPE will be required for walk-through visits.

Required Education and Experience
- Related BS degree or equivalent experience.
- Applicants with experience estimating Data Centers are highly desirable.
- 5-10 years’ experience performing estimates for an electrical contractor.
- Experience performing complex design/build and conceptual estimating of large electrical projects.
- Strong electrical commercial/industrial/federal project experience with contract values starting at $5 million.
- Proficient with MS Office suite and Accubid, familiar with scheduling software and CAD.
- Proven ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish high quality work
- Experience with detailed construction analyses and historical costs, take off quantities, developing schedules and preparing comprehensive cost estimates
- Recent hands-on experience, proven ability to review project plans and specs, experience performing site visits, investigations and evaluating methods to construct challenging projects
- Strong relationships and proven track record of successfully estimating electrical projects.
