What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic position at J&M Tank Lines Inc?
The mechanic is responsible for repairs and the maintenance of Class-8 diesel-powered tractors and tank trailers, both internal and external customers, and ensuring the roadworthiness of company equipment.

- Maintenance background in the trucking industry
- Experience with Kenworth tractors
- Experience with Cummins engines
- Up to $30/hour based on experience

- Perform preventive maintenance on trucks and trailers while utilizing personal safety equipment as required
- Move trucks and trailers in and out of the shop for maintenance
- Open repair orders and charge the appropriate parts to the repair order
- Perform tire inspections/appropriate paperwork to company standards
- Perform shop clean-up and housekeeping responsibilities as well as other miscellaneous related duties as assigned
- Inspects and maintains basic vehicle/accessorial worthiness, including proper fuel levels and tire air pressure, fluid levels, brakes, lights, and safety equipment, and submits reports indicating the condition of equipment
- Comprehend and perform Driver Vehicle Inspection Repair (DVIR) process
- Install, diagnose, and repair Geotab telematic devices
- Perform trailer preps
- Trailer and hose inspections per HM-183 standards
- Perform work on the frame rail and subframe
- Possesses and demonstrates the ability to perform assigned tasks in a manner that adheres to the company safety, health, environmental, and security policies
